Home Run Prop Predictions & Odds: MLB HR Best Bets for Sunday, October 18th

Junior Caminero Home Run Odds

Described around the league as a 42-homer bat this year, and the Statcast numbers back up why: he’s hit 34 of those home runs against right-handed pitching alone, meaning he’s done the bulk of his damage against the exact handedness he won’t see tonight. Against the lefty Messick, Caminero gets the platoon advantage as a right-handed hitter, and a player with this much raw, all-fields power doesn’t need a huge sample to change a game — one mistake pitch from a starter who’s thrown only 11 2/3 postseason innings is plenty.

Jose Ramirez Home Run Odds

As switch-hitter, the Rasmussen matchup is moot for him — he simply hits from the side that beats the platoon every time out. And he’s been the best hitter in this postseason bracket, period: .348 average, a 1.183 OPS, and two home runs in as many games to close out the ALDS, including a go-ahead, series-clinching two-run shot in Game 5. He’s 8-for-23 since the playoffs started, and a switch-hitting future Hall of Famer running that hot is a real threat every time he’s up, regardless of who’s on the mound.

Chase DeLauter Home Run Odds

Cleveland’s best hitter this season at 16 home runs and a 131 OPS+, and the matchup tonight plays right into his specific split: against right-handed pitching, DeLauter is hitting .269 with 13 of those 16 home runs, an .808 OPS and a .450 slugging percentage. Rasmussen is a righty, which means DeLauter sees the version of a pitcher he’s already handled for the bulk of his power production all year.

Yandy Diaz Home Run Odds

A career-high 22 home runs to go with a .293 average, .359 OBP and .446 slugging this season — the .805 OPS is the quietest kind of dangerous, since Díaz rarely chases and does damage on pitches in the zone rather than selling out for power. He’s another right-handed bat getting the platoon nod against Messick, and his contact-first, hard-contact profile is exactly the kind that’s made opposing lefties pay all year.
