Game 5 between the Philadelphia 76ers (1-3) and Boston Celtics (3-1) is set for 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPN. If Boston wins this series, then the franchise will be 4-0 in the playoffs against Philadelphia during the Joel Embiid era.

76ers vs. Celtics Betting Analysis

Joel Embiid has been sidelined since undergoing an appendectomy on April 9, but he valiantly returned to action in Game 4. The former MVP notched 26 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and two stocks but was predictably not efficient. Rust, conditioning, and pain management are areas that Embiid must overcome in Game 5 for the 76ers to extend this series.

The Celtics had a phenomenal offensive performance in Game 4. They shot 45.3% from deep on 53 attempts, grabbed 14 offensive rebounds and did not get crushed in the battles for points off turnovers or free throws. Jayson Tatum stuffed the box score to the tune of 30 points, seven rebounds, and 11 assists. His recovery from last season’s torn Achilles is truly incredible.

Fan favorite Payton Pritchard also contributed 32 points on 12-of-21 shooting from the field and chipped in four rebounds and five assists. During his post-game interview, Pritchard said the following when asked about his mindset entering Game 4 after a terrible Game 2 but better Game 3: “Very disappointed after Game 2. I felt like I was kind of a shell of myself. Bad decisions. Shot-making wasn’t great. So just coming out and just kind of trying to forget about it and just come out with a different aggression, a different attack mode, trying to get downhill and then obviously the three-ball started to get going.”

Boston has won Pritchard’s non-garbage time minutes this series by a whopping 21.4 points per 100 possessions. The former Sixth Man of the Year is a weapon off the bench who is crucial to a potential title run.

The best bet for Game 5 is taking Jayson Tatum to record at least seven assists. He’s avoiding traps by hitting rollers, and Philadelphia is struggling to prevent his paint touches. Overall, Tatum is averaging 15 potential assists per game, easily leads the Celtics in touches per game, and has logged at least seven assists in all four contests.
