Number Of Registered Alberta Online Casinos Falls In Latest Update
Usually, when Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis announces its weekly update of approved online casinos and sportsbooks, the number goes up.
This week, it went down one – to 46 from 47.
That is because Cadtree Limited’s Grizzly’s Quest platform disappeared from the list of sites to receive conditional approvals ahead of the July 13 launch of regulated Alberta online casinos and sportsbooks.

Where did Grizzly’s Quest go?
As to why the Grizzly’s Quest disappeared, Cadtree Limited has not responded to requests for comment, and AGLC can’t delve into specifics.
“AGLC is unable to comment on the individual status of operators and their registration,” said spokesperson Lynden McBeth.
It is worth noting that Grizzly Quest’s Ontario platform uses cartoon bears and moose dressed up in Canadian regalia; they look like they are out on a camping trip. Alberta’s rules do not allow for gaming sites to use “cartoon figures” as those could attract minors.
Cadtree now has five brands approved by the AGLC.
LeoVegas pauses Alberta online casino signups
One notable site that’s missing from the 46 is LeoVegas, the Swedish platform that’s one of the largest iGaming slot operators in Ontario. LeoVegas had partnered with Toronto Maple Leafs legend Mats Sundin as a celebrity endorser, cross promoting its Swedish and Ontario ties.
LeoVegas had previously announced plans to expand into Alberta. But, any Albertans who want to pre-register with LeoVegas now get this message on its website: “We have paused new signups in Alberta for the time being.”
