Daily Fantasy NBA Betting Sites
Along with sports betting, individuals plugged into the NBA can also get in on the sport via playing Daily Fantasy Games.
Both PrizesPicks and Underdog fantasy allow individuals the opportunity to win large sums of cash off of relatively small wagers.
Each platform gives individuals the opportunity to select anywhere between 2-6 players from any NBA game on a given night. Each player is assigned a more/less designation for a particular statistical category — whether it be rebounds, points, steals, blocks, assists, etc…
Individuals will then have the opportunity to select more or less on this statistical category depending on what they believe will happen.
Underdog and Prizepicks will then pay out based on how many of the selections win. To win big money from placing smaller wagers, individuals will need to pick 5 or 6 players and hit on all of their selections.
Using Stats to Bet on the NBA
If bettors could just use “instincts” and “gut feel” to make money in sports betting, then all of the sportsbooks would be bankrupt and every bettor would be rich. It is simply not enough to “feel good” about a bet; we have to analyze things quantitatively, too.
When betting on point totals (over/under), it is worthwhile to look at trends, recent results, and overall “over” records for both teams. Additionally, pace and possessions per game for both teams is an important metric to help determine whether they play up-tempo, which ultimately results in more opportunities to score, or if they like to slow the game down, similar to the 2022-23 Miami Heat.
For player props, you should look at opponent matchups (how strong or weak is their primary matchup/defender?), recent performances against the opponent, and whether they are on a hot or cold streak (last ten, last five, etc…) Identifying weaknesses of a targeted player’s opponent is always a terrific idea, too.
For instance, if you are bearish on the Charlotte Hornets’ ability to box out opposing big men, especially talented and athletic ones, then you might be inclined to bet the over on a specific center’s rebounding prop when he plays against Charlotte.
One metric that can help is the “NBA Defense Versus Position.” This identifies how many points, rebounds, and assists that an opposing defense allows to every position on the floor, highlighting potential weaknesses you can exploit.
Types of NBA Bets and Examples
As discussed briefly above, there is a wide array of NBA bets that you can partake in, so check them out below, including specific examples for each.
If there is a minus sign in front of a number, it denotes that team/player/bet is a favorite. For instance, if the Denver Nuggets’ Moneyline is -300, then you would have to be $300 to win $100, as they are the heavy favorite.
However, if there is a plus sign in front of a team/player/bet, then that means they are an underdog. As an example, if the Houston Rockets are +250 to beat Denver, then you only have to wager $100 to win $250 if your bet cashes.
For certain futures bets, every player or team might be an underdog, as the implied probability could be too low for any player or team to be a favorite. An example of this would be the Denver Nuggets’ championship odds, which are +475 in the preseason, despite the fact that they won the NBA Championship last season.

What is Spread Betting?
Spread betting is betting on which team will cover a numerical spread, which is set by a sportsbook. For instance, if the Denver Nuggets are playing the Houston Rockets at home, Denver is an obvious favorite to win the game, as it has a much better team and home-court advantage; therefore, the sportsbooks will determine a number that they believe the Nuggets will win by. If the sportsbooks set the line at 5.5, in favor of the Nuggets, and you bet on them to “cover the spread,” then the Nuggets have to win by six or more points for you to win.
What is Moneyline Betting?
Moneyline betting is simply betting on which NBA team you believe will win the game. Since there are teams who are better than others, you might receive less favorable odds betting on a favorite; however, you could get great value in betting on an underdog, as their chances of winning could be substantially less.
What is an Over/Under?
An over/under, or “point total,” is a set number from the sportsbooks to identify what they believe the final score of the game will be. You can either bet that the combined score between the two NBA teams will be less (under) or more (over) than where the sportsbook has set it at.
Which Sportsbook Offers the Best Player Prop Odds?
DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, BetMGM, and PointsBet all offer good player prop odds; however, this can vary from bet to bet. For instance, DraftKings may offer the best (most favorable) odds for Luka Doncic to win the MVP, but the worst (least favorable) odds for Giannis Antetokounmpo to win. This is why shopping odds and having accounts with multiple sportsbooks is crucial.
Can I Make a Same Game Parlay on DraftKings?
Yes, you can make a same-game parlay on DraftKings. A same-game parlay consists of combining several different “legs” (individual bets) into one. Essentially, if all of those legs (bets) hit, then you will be rewarded handsomely; however, if just one of your legs does not hit, the entire parlay is a loss. Parlays are high-risk, high-reward bets that should be used more for entertainment purposes than anything else.
How are Parlay Odds Calculated?
Parlay odds are calculated differently by every sportsbooks. For instance, you could play the same five-legger on BetMGM and FanDuel, and one of those sportsbooks might give you substantially more favorable odds than the other. This is another reason why shopping odds around and having multiple accounts with various sportsbooks matters.
Can I Parlay an NBA Game with a Game from Another Sport?
Most sportsbooks will allow you to create “multi-sport parlays,” which are exactly as they sound: combining bets into one parlay from different sports. For example, you can bet on the Memphis Grizzlies’ (NBA) moneyline and the Kansas City Chiefs (NFL) against the spread.
Can I Use a Credit Card to Deposit on FanDuel or Other Sportsbooks?
Yes, FanDuel, Caesars, BetMGM, DraftKings, WynnBET all allow you to deposit money into your account via a credit card; however, there are certain states that prohibit you to fund your account through a credit card, so keep that in mind.
