Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Nov. 8 Player Prop Bets (OKC vs. HOU)
Over 27.5 points
- Last year’s MVP runner-up has started this season slowly, but Gilgeous-Alexander is starting to turn a corner in terms of raw production. The Oklahoma City Thunder demolished most of their opponents over the first two weeks of the season but are coming off their first loss of the year. SGA went for 28 points over a season-high 38 minutes in the defeat. The Houston Rockets (+8.5) could give the Thunder another close game tonight, but their feisty defense has been unable to handle SGA in recent seasons, as he’s averaging 34.2 points per game on a 138.2 offensive rating over his last five outings against Houston. The Houston defense is limiting points in the paint, fastbreak points, and assists this season, but SGA is arguably the best mid-range scorer in the league, and he doesn’t require assists to get going.
Top points scorer: -115
- The Rockets have few players capable of approaching 30 points, especially in this matchup. Chet Holmgren can keep Alperen Sengun from going off down low, and Jalen Green will draw a very tough cast of defenders that now includes Alex Caruso. Jalen Williams is perhaps the biggest threat to outscore his teammate, SGA, but the Thunder could end up playing through their MVP in a matchup against Houston’s physical defense.
Jalen Green Nov. 8 Player Prop Bets (HOU @ OKC)
Over 3.5 turnovers
- The Thunder defense has been the best in the NBA by far this season, especially when it comes to forcing turnovers. OKC is forcing 20.3 turnovers per game and turning opponents over on 17% of their possessions. Green is averaging 3.3 turnovers per game with a 25.5% usage rate over his last four outings against the Thunder, including five turnovers in his last trip to OKC. His usage rate has jumped to 33.3% in three road games this season, and he’s averaging 3.7 turnovers per game in those contests with a huge increase in ball-handling responsibilities. Expect the Thunder to throw a number of stellar defenders at Houston’s top offensive option.
Anthony Davis Nov. 8 Player Prop Bets (LAL vs. PHI)
Over 27.5 points
- The LA Lakers return home after going 1-4 during a tough road trip, and Davis is expected to return from a one-game absence due to plantar fasciitis. LeBron James posted a 37% usage rate in that loss at Memphis, so Davis could take on much higher usage in his return while James gets some rest. The matchup is pristine against a Philadelphia 76ers team that is coughing up the sixth-most points in the paint, fourth-most free throw attempts, and highest field goal percentage to opponents this season with Joel Embiid out due to knee injury management and a suspension. Davis averaged 34 points and 15 free throw attempts per game over his first three outings at home under new coach JJ Redick, and he’s leading the league in points per game (32.6) overall, so it’s not a huge leap to expect him to drop 28 points tonight.
Bilal Coulibaly Nov. 8 Player Prop Bets (WAS @ MEM)
Over 20.5 points + rebounds
- Golden State cooled Coulibaly off by holding him to nine points over 39 minutes on Monday. Prior to that matchup, the second-year forward was averaging 22.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game over four outings to capitalize on increased usage with Kyle Kuzma (groin) out. Kuzma remains out tonight along with Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, and Marcus Smart for Memphis, which could lead to a freewheeling and less competitive game. Coulibaly thrives in the open court, and he’s quick enough to work around Grizzlies rookie center Zach Edey. Memphis is allowing the sixth-most points in transition and the second-most spot-up jump shots, which has been a huge improvement for Coulibaly in his second year.
