PrizePicks Adds Another California Partner As Sports Betting Remains Out Of Reach
PrizePicks continues to boost its exposure in California as sports betting appears to remain years away from legalization.
The company announced Wednesday it is now the official daily fantasy sports partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The latest partnership follows two others announced in April with the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants.
PrizePicks offers a DFS game similar to a prop parlay in traditional sports betting. Customers select between two and six player stats, choosing whether the player with go above or below the total offered by PrizePicks.
Details of PrizePicks-Dodgers agreement
The multi-year agreement will give PrizePicks “prominent in-venue branding” throughout Dodger Stadium. That includes banner displays on the concourses and LED signage in the outfield pavilion.
The brand will also be promoted across the Dodgers’ media platforms.
This season, PrizePicks will offer contests for free lineups and Dodgers tickets whenever the Dodgers score 10 or more runs at home.
“Partnering with the Dodgers is an incredible opportunity to align with one of the most respected organizations in sports,” said PrizePicks Chief Marketing Officer Mike Quigley. “As the Dodgers chase another championship title, we’re looking forward to delivering unique moments that bring fans even closer to the action.”
California sports betting timeline still unknown
A push to legalize sports betting in California still seems one or two election cycles away.
California gaming tribes hold the cards in the sports betting discussions, something the sports betting industry did not fully understand when it attempted to legalize betting in 2022 at the voting booth. The tribes ran an opposition campaign against the proposal, which led to just 16% approval of the mobile betting proposition.
Now, with the two sides working together, it seems like a deal could happen between members of the Sports Betting Alliance and those tribes. Tribes could be in line for a minimum $10 million annual payment under the proposal.
