Later in the night, we go back to the well with Sam Reinhart and Tage Thompson, two lethal scorers who currently lead their team in Expected Goals. For more information, check out our NHL betting trends page for the latest daily game odds, insight, and data.

Trevor Zegras (Flyers vs. Blue Jackets) Goal Odds

After being held scoreless in his first seven games with Philadelphia, Trevor Zegras has started to get into a groove, scoring a trio of Goals in his last six starts. During his hot stretch of play, Zegras has been efficient, averaging 0.32 Expected Goals while generating 2.08 Shots on Goal per game.

Heading into Tuesday night’s matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Zegras will be able to continue to light the lamp by taking advantage of a back line that ranks 25th in Expected Goals Against in All Situations. Especially with Jet Greaves struggling to hold his own while operating behind an underwhelming back line, giving up 3.34 Goals Against per game.

Even when moving to the blue line in 5-on-4 Situations, Zegras has still been able to create high quality shot attempts, generating 0.11 Expected Goals per penalty. With fewer bodies between Zegras and the net, the Flyers forward will be able to convert his shot attempts into Shots on Goal at a higher rate, improving his probability of scoring.

Sam Reinhart (Panthers vs. Jets) Goal Odds

Since the start of the regular season, Sam Reinhart has been the Florida Panthers most consistent source of pressure, leading the team in Expected Goals with an average of 0.54 per game.

In a favorable matchup against the Winnipeg Jets, Reinhart will be able to snap his three game scoreless skid by attacking a back line that struggles to keep a body in front of the puck per their below league average mark in Expected Goals Against in 5-on-5 Play. Even with Stuart Skinner playing at a high level, the Panthers versatility will force the Jets goalie to make quick cuts across the ice, creating larger gaps beside him.

When in the Power Play, Reinhart is accompanied by Brady and Matthew Tkachuk, a pair of productive skaters who help pull defensive attention away from him. With the Jets incapable of protecting the middle while stretched out in coverage, Reinhart will be able to rifle off higher quality Shots on Goal, making it difficult for Skinner to wall them off.

Tage Thompson (Sabres vs. Sharks) Goal Odds

After struggling to play at a competitive level on offense last year, the Buffalo Sabres have continued to underwhelm this season, ranking in the bottom half of the board in Expected Goals For. Even when receiving minimal support from his teammates, Tage Thompson has been able to thrive, mustering up 0.46 Expected Goals per game.

With the San Jose Sharks on deck, Thompson will be able to keep the Sabres afloat by ambushing a back line that resides in the bottom ten in Expected Goals Against From High Dangers Shots. Yaroslav Askarov is also projected to get the start in net for the Sharks, a backup goalie who has been unable to find his footing while averaging 3.43 Goals Against per game and a .883 Save Percentage.

In 5-on-4 Situations, Thompson has quietly regressed, generating just 0.64 Shots on Goal per penalty. With the Sharks struggling to defend the net, Thompson will be able to generate a higher volume of shot attempts, leading to his sixth Goal of the season.
