The Maryland Terrapins may be a long shot to win the Big Ten title in 2018, but they should be a fun bunch to watch. The Terrapins finished with an overall record of 4-8 in 2017, while only winning two of their seven conference games. Nevertheless, the talent on this team is good enough to cause several squads problems this fall. The Terrapins will return several key players on both sides of the ball in 2018, including a pair of seniors in running back Ty Johnson and wide receiver Jahrvis Davenport, but the biggest excitement is coming from several new players and underclassmen that should bring hope for the Terrapins' future.

Quarterbacks Kasim Hill and Tyrrell Pigrome are both returning from ACL injuries, however, they are expected to be 100-percent for the season. Having two young quarterbacks can be a good thing, especially since these two play with such a different style under center. Hill has more of a pro-style to his game, while Pigrome is a dual-threat guy who can make things happen with his arm as well as on the ground.

Hill is being hyped as the starter heading into the season, but don’t be surprised if Pigrome gets the nod as reports out of the Maryland camp indicate that Pigrome has improved his accuracy over the summer. On the defensive side of the ball, Maryland may boast one of the best and underrated secondaries in the Big Ten. Florida State transfer Marcus Lewis is returning to his hometown state to play for the Terps in 2018, and fans couldn’t be more excited. Lewis will take the place of JC Jackson, who is now a member of the New England Patriots. Starting on the opposite corner of Lewis will be Tino Ellis. This combo should give opposing quarterbacks in the Big Ten fits this season.

The Terrapins open the schedule against the Texas Longhorns on September 1. The Big Ten portion of the schedule will begin against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on September 22.
