2026-27 NFL Coach of the Year Contenders

Kevin O’Connell remains the best bet for Coach of the Year. He’s priced at +650, tied with Kyle Shanahan for the second-shortest number on the board behind only John Harbaugh, and the case for him only gets stronger by the week: Minnesota is 5-0, one of just three unbeaten teams left in the league, after O’Connell navigated a real quarterback decision by naming Kyler Murray the starter over rookie J.J. McCarthy and getting the offense rolling despite Murray missing time with a concussion early on. The defense has been even better — Andrew Van Ginkel has been a versatile playmaker, and the unit is anchoring a 5-0 start. Coaching a team through a QB competition, an injury scare, and a shaky-to-dominant defensive turnaround and still winning every week is as clean a Coach of the Year résumé as there is right now.

2026-27 NFL Coach of the Year Sleepers

Liam Coen and Joe Brady remain the Coach of the Year sleepers, and both are first- or second-year leads to their jobs steering veteran quarterbacks to strong starts. Coen has the Jaguars at 4-1, with Trevor Lawrence playing some of the most efficient football of his career — 10 touchdowns against just 3 interceptions and a 67.1% completion rate through five games — in an offense clearly tailored to his strengths. Brady’s first season running the Bills has them at the same 4-1 mark, with Josh Allen (already the MVP best bet entering Week 6) playing at an MVP level in a first-year system. Both are priced in the mid-teens (+1400 for Coen, +1500 for Brady) behind the bigger names, but a first-time play-caller getting immediate buy-in from an established quarterback and a 4-1 record is exactly the profile that sneaks into the award conversation by December.
