The finalé to the 2026 PGA Tour season is already here, as the 30-best remaining players head to Atlanta, Georgia for the 2026 TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club.

A tee time at East Lake is a primary goal for every player at the beginning of the season, and by simply qualifying for this final event, they’ve secured themselves entry into all Signature Events and Majors in 2027. The best ability is availability, so being able to plan your schedule around every big event is a major relief for all in this field.

There is little motivation for those in the top-30 to play during the Fall Swing, which has now become a qualifying circuit for those not otherwise exempt next season. As such, there is nothing to look ahead to for this field, so I expect this event to hold every player’s full attention. Even if they were looking ahead, a $10M prize for 1st place is pretty motivating as well.

East Lake Golf Club is a long golf course by par-70 standards, and much like the first two events of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, it will penalize wayward tee-shots with its penal Bermuda rough, and require proficient long-iron play. One of the most underrated courses on the PGA Tour schedule, East Lake truly rewards the most well-rounded and in-form players.

In this article, we’ll look for diamonds in the rough ahead of the 2026 TOUR Championship.

TOUR Championship Odds

East Lake Golf Club Course Introduction

Established in 1904, East Lake Golf Club has rich history in Atlanta. East Lake has served as the permanent final stop of the season since the TOUR Championship’s inception in 2004. In addition to hosting this event, East Lake has also hosted the 1963 Ryder Cup and 2001 U.S. Amateur.

East Lake joins Sedgefield CC and Detroit GC as the three regular Donald Ross stops on the PGA TOUR schedule. While sharing the commonality of nuanced greens complexes, East Lake clearly provides the sternest test of the three. It rewards above-average distance off the tee and a complete tee-to-green game. Zach Johnson holds the course record of 60 (10-under par), but the low four-day score has typically fallen in the modest -13 to -15 range.

Standing as a 7,440-yard par-70, East Lake is a fair test of players’ all-around game, rewarding a combination of both distance and accuracy off the tee, mid-iron approach play, and skilled putting on nuanced Bermuda greens.

TOUR Championship Golf DFS Picks & Longshot Bets

To identify “value” any given week on the PGA Tour, I find it’s best first to understand the consensus key stat profile. Then, take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the TOUR Championship, Recent Form, SG: APP, and Event History are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price.

From a golf DFS picks perspective, I will take a stance primarily on the importance of Comp Course History and Recent Form. Form can be fleeting at the end of a long regular season, so this tends to be a spot on the schedule where players can build momentum off of a strong showing in their last one or two preceding starts. Comp Course History on similar Bermuda venues that emphasize accurate ball-striking will also be crucial in finding diamonds in the rough at East Lake Golf Club.

Below, find my favorite value PGA golf fantasy picks and longshots for the 2026 FedEx St Jude Championship. Stats pulled across the Last 36 Rounds unless otherwise noted. Their odds of winning the event are also shown.

Chris Gotterup

Value is a relative thing as fields dwindle down with each passing week throughout the FedEx Cup Playoffs. With only the 30-best players remaining now, there is no such thing as a true “longshot”, but Gotterup’s price certainly constitutes a sleeper. In totality, Gotterup has had a top-5 season on the PGA Tour this year, picking up three wins across the Sony Open, WM Phoenix Open, and John Deere Classic. Combine that with his other wins at the Myrtle Beach Classic and Genesis Scottish Open, and it becomes clear that Gotterup is not a monolith when it comes to course fits.

All told, East Lake asks many of the same questions as Bellerive Country Club. Each rewards Total Driving (a combination of distance and accuracy off-the-tee) and long-iron approach play, allowing the most skilled ball-strikers to separate. With that said, his T4 finish at the BMW Championship last week is an encouraging sign. Gotterup looked strong in his 2025 TOUR Championship debut, finishing T10 and ranking 3rd for the week in SG: Ball Striking.

Si Woo Kim

Distance is not required at East Lake, a course whose long and gnarly Bermuda rough offers a distinct advantage for those who can consistently play from the fairway. That is Si Woo’s calling card, as he’s played the best throughout his career on accuracy-premium courses. Kim has done everything but win in 2026, as he sets out to make the final start of the best statistical season of his decorated career from a total strokes gained perspective.

Surprisingly, the 3-time PGA Tour winner will be making just his third career start at the TOUR Championship, finishing T20 and T10 in his two prior appearances. Tommy Fleetwood managed to break through and snap a winless drought at the 2025 TOUR Championship, so it would not surprise me if Si Woo Kim managed to do the same this week.

Hideki Matsuyama

It will be the 7th week of action in a row for Matsuyama this week, but he’s shown absolutely no signs of fatigue over that stretch with six top-15 finishes over his last seven starts. A commitment to accuracy over distance off-the-tee appears to be the key to Matsuyama’s recent breakthrough, as he ranks top-5 in Driving Accuracy over his last 36 rounds.

There are no questions about Matsuyama’s approach form either, ranking top-5 in SG: APP as well, so his ability to contend at East Lake will simply come down to the putter. It’s been more good than bad for him on the greens recently, however, as he’s gained strokes putting in seven of his last 11 starts. Experience is a privilege at the TOUR Championship, and Matsuyama will have a distinct advantage in that department. Over 11 career trips to East Lake, he’s finished top-15 in seven of them.

JJ Spaun

From a pure value standpoint, Spaun is my favorite player on the board this week. It hasn’t been the flashiest of closing stretches to the season for Spaun, but he’s been remarkably average with eight made cuts over his last nine starts. The first-round leader at Bellerive last week, Spaun is close to finding his full form. When he’s on, he possesses the combination of accurate driving and elite approach play that is so crucial for contending hopefuls at East Lake.

Beyond the money on the line this week, Spaun would do well to put one final great performance in before Captain Brandt Snedeker makes his selections for the Presidents Cup. The 2025 U.S. Open champion has likely done enough already to secure a spot, but he’ll look to finish on a high note on this strong course fit.

Best of luck if you choose to roster these TOUR Championship golf DFS picks!
