The PGA Tour’s Fall Series continues on, as the PGA Tour’s international swing takes us to Cabo for our second consecutive week in Mexico. The 2026 World Wide Technology Championship at Tiger Woods’ El Cardonal at Diamante is next on tap to host this week.
In its first three years on the PGA Tour, El Cardonal has proven to be the easiest course on the schedule. With oversized fairways and greens and an overall course yardage that keeps even the shortest hitters in play, this venue has played as a bona fide second-shot golf course, and effectively, a putting contest.
Putting contests lend themselves to volatility, so even though Ben Griffin is in the field to defend his title, I find myself leaning towards a longer list of longshots on my betting card this week, as players who can spike with their irons and putting are available in bunches in this field.
In this article, we’ll look for diamonds in the rough ahead of the 2026 World Wide Technology Championship.
World Wide Technology Championship Odds
El Cardonal at Diamante Course Introduction
Designed by Tiger Woods in 2014 with aid from Davis Love, El Cardonal is a resort course made for the casual golfer. While the championship tees stretch back to 7,452 yards, that is hardly a challenge for the modern PGA Tour pro. Look no further than Ben Griffin’s winning mark of -29 last year, where the scoring average was 13-under-par for the week, the easiest of any event in 2025.
Situated on the West Coast of Mexico in Cabo San Lucas, El Cardonal’s best defense is its exposure to coastal winds. Unfortunately, wind has really not played a part in this tournament’s first three years, rendering it virtually defenseless.
The Paspalum greens at El Cardonal are also oversized but feature some tight tabletop runoffs similar to the greenside complexes at Kapalua, Corales, and PGA National. From a short-game perspective, these may serve as useful comps for the shot-making required at El Cardonal.
Still, with oversized fairways and greens and a winning score projected beyond 25 under par, players will not be asked to scramble too often on these grounds. Instead, the straightforward resort layout will reward in-form players with proven results in easy-scoring conditions who can spike with their irons and putt on Paspalum greens.

World Wide Technology Championship Golf DFS Picks & Longshot Bets
To identify “value” any given week on the PGA Tour, I find it’s best first to understand the consensus key stat profile. Then, take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the World Wide Technology Championship, Recent Form, SG: APP, and Birdies or Better Gained are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price.
From a golf DFS picks perspective, I will take a stance primarily on the importance of Comp Course History, SG: Approach, and SG: TOT in easy scoring conditions. There is very little defense to this course when winds are down, and if it continues to play like a putting contest, there is a limited list of players in this field who have proven they can hole enough putts to keep pace in these birdie fests. That should help level the playing field for shorter hitters to hang around here too, but the field at large will be taking a driver-heavy approach, with El Cardonal offering such negligible penalty for misfires off the tee.
Below, find my favorite value PGA golf fantasy picks and longshots for the 2026 World Wide Technology Championship. Stats pulled across the Last 36 Rounds unless otherwise noted. Their odds of winning the event are also shown.
Denny McCarthy
The World Wide Technology Championship has proven to be nothing more than a putting contest in each of its first three years on the PGA Tour, with winning scores pushing beyond 24-under-par in each iteration. If there truly is no challenge from tee-to-green at this golf course, then McCarthy stands the best chance to capitalize in this field, as he is the No. 1 long-term putter over the course of the 2026 season.
McCarthy tends to peak at the end of the season, when the fields get easier, and courses concentrate on Bermuda and Paspalum greens. He’ll be making his World Wide Technology Championship debut this week, but enters in excellent form amidst a stretch of three consecutive top-30 finishes. His irons were sharp last week at Vidanta as well, where he ranked 20th in the field in SG: APP. If the irons can stay hot, McCarthy’s putter can be the x-factor in this bona fide putting contest.
Ben Silverman
It’s been a great fall swing for the veteran Canadian, who comes to El Cardonal fresh off two of his best finishes of the season – a T19 at the Mexico Open at Vidanta and a T3 at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Silverman’s recent success has come in spite of an ice-cold putter, a part of his game which has normally been his strength. He’s been especially strong on Paspalum greens throughout his career, though, so this projects to be an ideal get-right spot for Silverman on the greens.
You need to be able to go low to contend at El Cardonal, and Silverman proved his game translates here in 2025, where he fired a final-round 64 en route to a T21 finish. He has four top-20 finishes across the Bank of Utah Championship, Mexico Open, and Corales Puntacana Championship, supporting that he is at his best on these resort-style coastal venues. Silverman ranks top-10 in SG: APP over the last 16 rounds, and will look to keep that momentum going on a great course fit this week in Cabo.
Tom Hoge
It may be too reductive to say there is no resistance at all from El Cardonal from tee-to-green, but it is, by all accounts, a quintessential second-shot course. That’s ideal for a player like Hoge, who has been bleeding strokes off the tee, but excellent in all other facets of his game leading in. Hoge was last seen in Bermuda, where he finished T6, and ranked top-25 in the field across SG: APP, SG: ARG, and SG: P. He is one of just six players to rank top-15 in SG: APP and above-average in SG: P over the last 36 rounds.
Hoge has been able to right the ship at El Cardonal in the past, finishing T45 and T21 in two prior starts while entering in far worse preceding form. The 2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am winner knows how to close on a Pacific coastal course, and is still one of the most dangerous players in this field with an iron in hand.
Kensei Hirata
If recent form, SG: APP, and SG: P are the three factors that matter most at El Cardonal, then Hirata stands out as one of the best values in this field. Hirata has found his stride over the last two weeks, finishing T34 at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship and T11 at last week’s Mexico Open at Vidanta.
Hirata is not a long hitter off the tee, but that profile has not held back other contenders over the years like Matt Kuchar or Chad Ramey. Like them, Hirata is capable of spiking with his irons and putting, which is what this event has boiled down to over its first three years on Tour. He’s ranked top-15 in SG: APP and top-30 in SG: P in each of his last two starts, and will carry a high floor at this price if that form continues.
