Dallas Cowboys vs. Baltimore Ravens Matchup Preview (12/8/20): Betting Odds, Depth Charts, Live Stream (Watch Online)
Contents
The last few weeks have been crazy as far as scheduling goes and this game was pushed to Tuesday to get the Ravens back in line after the Pittsburgh game. They will head back home and face the Cowboys. Baltimore will get some bodies back after the outbreak which bodes well as they need a win here to help their playoff push. As for Dallas the only shot they have at making the playoffs. Offensively they are not the same and facing a Baltimore defense that is still good despite a few missing names is going to cause trouble. Dallas’ run defense has also been an issue this season and Gus Ewards and JK Dobbins create a good one-two punch. Baltimore is over touchdown favorites and that isn’t a surprise despite all the chaos. For odds movement and full matchup history, visit the Dallas Cowboys At Baltimore Ravens Matchup Page.

Dallas Cowboys Analysis
It has been a rough season for the Cowboys and it is about to get rougher. They are no averaging 22.8 points per game and that is with the stretch over the past 7-8 weeks where they have struggled to move the ball. They are getting very little through the air and it is hard to blame them as Dalton looks like a true backup and the offensive line has struggled. The run game has also not been as lethal, although the volume has somewhat masked those struggles. We saw last week Zeke be nonexistent against Washington and they will face a Baltimore line that is getting healthier. Facing a run-heavy Baltimore team themselves, allowing 4.9 yards per carry and 156 rushing yards per game is not a good look heading into this one. The pass defense hasn’t seen the same volume and also have faced lackluster NFC offenses which help drag down their numbers. Overall they rank 21st in DVOA against the pass and 29th against the run. I expect Baltimore to have some better days on offense over the next few weeks and it will start against this defense. Dallas will be hoping for some rust from Jackson missing last week.

Baltimore Ravens Analysis
Lamar Jackson is back this week and he gets a stretch of games where he can build some momentum ahead of a likely playoff push. Baltimore has struggled against better defenses but that won’t be the case facing the Cowboys this week. The rushing attack has still been great averaging 4.9 fantasy points per attempt. They have averaged 157 per game as a whole. I would expect them to lean on the run this week but this is also a chance to get the passing offense going a bit. They won’t be able to go deep into the playoffs without getting back on track offensively. A lot of this has come down to playcalling but also not utilizing the receivers at their strengths. Marquise Brown leads the team in yards, yet you wouldn’t believe it based off the commentary about his season. He has 516 yards and three touchdowns. Mark Andrews won’t play this week and that will be a loss for the offense. I would expect Duvernay, Dez, and Snead to pick up a majority of the targets behind him but it won’t be consistent. Dobbins is back this week and has been the best back by far. He is averaging over five yards per game and was starting to see heavier touches over the last few weeks. Him and Edwards will carry the workload.

This week continues the trend of being worrisome of larger spreads. Baltimore is coming off a dreadful game offensively and the last 10-14 days have not been kind for their team as a whole. It will be interesting to see what Ravens team shows up this week and also how Lamar Jackson plays against a rather weak Dallas defense. In a normal week, the spread should be around the same and I would be more comfortable giving the Ravens the spread but I don’t feel like that’s the case. Baltimore has also just been 5-5-1 ATS this season, although Dallas is 2-9. Most books have not listed odds as there are still a fair number of players that need to get approved to play and the race is on.

Daily Fantasy Picks
You will find this game to be a showdown slate which is a single game contest. Baltimore has the plus matchup against the Cowboys who struggle. Mark Andrews isn’t going to return but Lamar Jackson and JK Dobbins will. I like the backfield of both Dobbins and Edwards to attack a rather weak Dallas run defense. The pass-catchers are pretty limited but Marquise Brown does have a good matchup and desperately needs to find some consistency. As for the Dallas side the Baltimore secondary could be limited and both Cooper and Lamb are intriguing options. With the defensive line getting healthier I wouldn’t expect the Cowboys to have an easy day on the ground. Their offensive line is struggling as well. Keep an eye on the final injury report as that will be telling about where to go for plays.
