The Houston Texans made it to the Divisional Round of the playoffs last season, but ultimately fell on the road against the New England Patriots. They went 12-5, and before that loss, they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road in the Wild Card round 30-6.
The Texans have arguably one of the best defenses (if not the best) in all of the NFL. The problem for them is their offense. Quarterback C.J. Stroud played in 14 games last season, completing 64.5% of his passes for 3,041 yards (217.2 yards per game), 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. They simply need more production out of their former No. 2 overall pick.
Below, we’ll examine the Texans’ odds ahead of the 2026-27 season to win the Super Bowl, AFC title game, AFC South, and more.
2026 Houston Texans Super Bowl Odds
When it comes to the Texans in the Super Bowl, I admittedly struggle with this one. On one hand, this defense is so chock-full of talent it’s hard to deny them. On the other side, I worry about this offense quite a bit. They did improve their offensive line—which they needed to do desperately—with their draft picks of guards Keylan Rutledge and Febechui Nwaiwu, and they also brought in Braden Smith and Wyatt Teller. Smith was a quality right tackle last season, allowing just one sack. My main concerns, though, lie with Stroud. That said, given this defense and some potential for “positive regression,” the Texans are a team I’d make some sort of wager on to win Super Bowl 61.

2026 Houston Texans AFC Championship Odds
To get to the AFC Championship and win it, the Texans will need to go through quarterbacks like Josh Allen, Drake Maye, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes, Trevor Lawrence, and more. When I think of Stroud, I just don’t feel confident in him. He had a fantastic rookie season, but he’s not been the same since. When pressured last season, he completed under 50% of his passes for 828 yards (6 yards per attempt), five touchdowns, and five interceptions. Once again, yes, I’d consider them here, but I’m hesitant to rely mostly on the defense.

2026 Houston Texans AFC South Odds
While I was hesitant (though willing) to wager on the Texans to win the Super Bowl and AFC title game, I feel far more confident when it comes to the AFC South. The other teams the Texans need to compete with include three teams: the Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans, and Jaguars. The Colts have a quarterback coming off a torn Achilles, while the Titans are still rebuilding. The only team that gives me pause is the Jaguars. They went 1-1 against one another. In the second game, the Texans beat them 36-29. I’d be willing to wager on the Texans here, but I know the Jaguars aren’t a team to take lightly.
Bet: Yes
2026 Houston Texans Win Total Odds
The Texans won 12 games last season while Stroud played in 14 of 17. Now, their line is sitting at 9.5 wins. I’m taking the over. This season will be the second in Nick Caley’s offensive scheme, so I’m hoping for some improvement. One key addition they made was trading for running back David Montgomery to take the stress off of second-year back Woody Marks. They’ll also hope to have wide receiver Tank Dell back and contributing.
This defensive line includes Will Anderson Jr., Sheldon Rankins, Danielle Hunter, and their second-round pick Kayden McDonald. They also have Derek Stingley Jr. as one of their cornerbacks alongside Kamari Lassiter. The Texans are a double-digit win team, thanks mostly to their defense.

2026 Houston Texans To Make The Playoffs Odds
The Texans have minus-value odds to make the playoffs, and I’d agree with that and wager on it. Even in the event they don’t win the division, they’ll be in strong contention for a Wild Card spot, similar to last season. I have few doubts they’ll be one of the two best teams in the AFC South. Not to sound like a broken record, but this defense will lead them to the postseason. Last season, they allowed just 271.9 total yards per game (the fewest in the league) and should be in the postseason, but have no value in this market so pass.
Bet: No
2026 Houston Texans MVP Award Odds & Contenders
- CJ Stroud
- Will Anderson Jr.
While Anderson Jr. will be in play for the Defensive Player of the Year after recording 93 pressures and 12 sacks last season, I’m not sure I’d consider him an MVP candidate unless he had a record-breaking season. I’m also not confident enough in Stroud to be in a position to be up for the award. Overall, there aren’t any Texans players I’d seriously consider as a possible MVP.
