From Morgan Geekie to Timo Meier, multiple players find themselves in a great position to score while matching up with a defense that struggles to stay in front of the puck. For more information, check out our NHL betting trends page for the latest daily game odds, insight, and data.

Morgan Geekie (Bruins vs. Flyers) Goal odds

Even though Morgan Geekie has struggled to generate a high volume of Shots on Goal, he has been able to maximize the efficiency of his shot attempts by averaging 0.30 Expected Goals per game.

In a favorable matchup against a reeling Philadelphia Flyers back line, Geekie will be able to generate a higher volume of Shots on Goal while weaving the puck through a defense that currently ranks dead last in Expected Goals Against in All Situations. Even with Joseph Woll playing at a high enough level to mask Philadelphia’s struggles in coverage, the production Geekie receives from David Pastrnak will help pull the Flyers goalie away from the net, creating wider shooting lanes on the outside.

With positive regression looming large in 5-on-5 Play while already leading the team in Expected Goals in the Power Play, Geekie’s usage will skyrocket, drastically increasing his chances of scoring. For some more exposure, place a separate wager on Geekie to score the first Goal as well.

Timo Meier (Devils vs. Canucks) Goal Odds

While Geekie has underwhelmed in his efforts of pressuring the net, Timo Meier has been one of the most aggressive forwards in the league, averaging six Shots on Goal per game. Even though Meier has been able to rifle off a heavy volume of shot attempts, his aggression has yet to be rewarded, failing to score in three games.

Fortunately for Meier, he will have a great opportunity to find the back of the net in Saturday’s contest against the Vancouver Canucks by taking advantage of a back line that resides near the bottom of the board in Expected Goals Against From High Danger Shots on All Situations. Especially with Kevin Lankinen incapable of protecting the Canucks while averaging a stunning 7.05 Goals Against per game in four starts.

In the Power Play, Meier’s usage rate ticks up with the Devils offense running through him in the second unit. With his workload intact every time he takes the ice, Meier will be able to consistently pressure the Canucks net and score his first Goal of the season.

Logan Stankoven (Hurricanes vs. Blackhawks) Goal Odds

After being traded to the Carolina Hurricanes, Logan Stankoven has been able to quickly carve out a role in their high powered offense while generating 0.47 Expected Goals and 2.80 Shots on Goal per game.

Fresh off of a hat trick against the Canucks, Stankoven will be able to build on his momentum in a matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks by attacking a back line who ranks 30th overall in Expected Goals Against in 5-on-5 Play. The Hurricanes versatility in the second line with Jackson Blake and Taylor Hall will also help scramble Spencer Knight in the Blackhawks net, widening the width of the gaps when he is unable to successfully cut across the crease.

Like Meier, Stankoven is also the engine that drives the Hurricanes second Power Play unit while averaging 0.6 Shots on Goal per penalty, helping him avoid any regression throughout the contest. Back Stankoven to score and sprinkle a smaller wager on the Hurricanes forward to score 2+ Goals as well.
