LSU Tigers Roster 2019 Tigers Roster

Head Coach: Ed Orgeron        2017 Salary: $3,500,000        Offensive Coordinator: Steve Ensimnger       Defensive Coordinator: Dave Aranda

Stadium: Tiger Stadium       Surface: Grass        City: Baton Rouge        State: Louisiana LSU will return a very good starting lineup to the field in 2018. The tides of change are in the works as the team looks to build on a 4-loss season. While these losses were close, they still show up in the wrong column at the end of the season. A battle with Troy marked a glaring defeat, while strong efforts against Notre Dame and Alabama proceeded to showcase the team's ability to withstand long contests. Using these losses as building blocks will help prepare the team for their 2018 campaign.

LSU Will Be a Force to Reckon With in 2018

The current roster of talent begs some questions, to which the team is keeping hush-hush about. The story to the make-up at the skill positions is transfers. LSU added Johnathan Giles from Texas Tech and Joe Burrow from Ohio State this off-season. Giles comes from a Texas Tech system that places a heavy hammer on downfield play. They breed receivers that are apt to the long ball and can really get downfield in a hurry. Giles will join a receiving core that is without standout, DJ Chark. The backfield will once again experience change with yet another player being selected in the NFL draft. The program is historically versed in running back development, so a sound rotation should keep this from becoming a gray area. Burrow comes from an Ohio State system that helped him learn behind J.T. Barrett. Burrow gains the opportunity to battle for a starting role, but he will have to overcome 3 other contenders that stated their case during Spring ball. The transfer additions mark for marquee talents, but the development will have to be fast and furious for them to become household names by the end of the season.

The LSU secondary boasts some incredible talents. Greedy Williams is the best cornerback across the land and should be drafted early in next year's draft. He creates a level of consistency to apply to the opposition's playmakers, strengthening whichever side he lines up on. The linebacker core returns a key grouping of starters. These lean defenders work well in passing situations and have the speed to cover out of the backfield. The talent in the front is somewhat depleted, but additions via recruiting will help place new faces in starting roles.

The recruiting class for this squad remains consistent in terms of reach. They add 5-star talent, Terrance Marshall, at the receiver position. Marshall headlines a class of 22 enrollees, most hailing from southern states. The team was also able to span their reach to states like Florida and Massachusetts to claim recruits, a positive sign that places the program back on the recruiting radar for top finishes at the end of the signing period. This group of freshman will make an instant impact on both sides of the ball, a welcomed sign for any program.
