While this is largely the same team that put together a World Series run, they have struggled closing in on some of the elite teams in the league. The Cubs still have a pretty strong core around themselves, with Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo. Javier Baez has also become one of the top names in the game, and is an exciting player to watch. Adding Jason Kipnis and Steven Souza in the offseason give the Cubs a couple of players to fill the needs they have. If Yu Darvish can find his form, and the rest of the staff holds down the fort, this can be a good rotation. Kyle Hendricks has limited production against him, but we have seen Jon Lester and Jose Quintana begin to struggle. If the backend of the rotation can’t find their worth, the Cubs do not have much to make up for it.

The Cubs are one of baseball's oldest franchises. Through their 148 seasons, they experienced one of the longest droughts between championships in all of sports. Prior to the Cubs' seventh-game victory over the Cleveland Indians in 2016, they had not been in the World Series since 1945, and had not won since 1908. However, in 2016, the Windy City faithful finally rid themselves of one of baseball's most enduring curses. The traditional story involved a goat and a poor kid named Bart. Nevertheless, anyone who bet against the Cubbies in that storybook game-seven of 2016 laid down a losing sports bet.

Chicago Cubs fans had to be almost as excited with the launch of Illinois sports betting. There are a number of physical locations where baseball fans can make wagers on one of America's favorite sports franchises. DraftKings Illinois sportsbook could be in prime position for a partnership with the Cubs to host a brick-and-mortar sportsbook location at Wrigley Field. Chicago Cubs fans will be able to visit this physical sportsbook location when it opens, or bet on their favorite team using the DraftKings sportsbook app.

FanDuel Sportsbook has been increasing their market share in the Illinois betting market. The FanDuel Illinois sportsbook offers Cubs fans a way to bet on future outcomes for their team. FanDuel futures posts odds for season win totals, plus odds for the Cubs to win the NL Central, the NL Pennant and even the World Series. These odds change as the season progresses, so keeping abreast of the depth chart, especially injuries, can help sports bettors to make smart wagers on potential future outcomes. FanDuel also offers the traditional betting lines for every Major League Baseball game throughout the season, including the Cubs.

There is also the unique pointsbetting option offered by the PointsBet Illinois sportsbook app. Cubs' fans can use their team depth chart knowledge to win big using the PointsBet high-risk, high-reward opportunities. Illinois sports fans can bet on college or pro games. You can also visit the physical location for PointsBet at the Hawthorne Race Course in Stickney, Illinois. The Hawthorne is a short 12-mile drive from downtown Chicago. Like the other sportsbook apps in Illinois, bettors can opt to place their bets at a physical sportsbook, or simply download the app and complete their bet slip online or using their mobile device.

William Hill Illinois sportsbook was the fifth app to launch in the Illini State. Cubs' fans can make their first bet on their hometown team without risk. The William Hill new account bonus offers a risk-free first bet up to $300. Chicago bettors can combine the Cubs with other teams to wager a potentially big payout parlay with William Hill. Staying abreast of the Chicago depth chart can help a Cubs' fan make smart bets on their team. You can use any of these popular Illinois sportsbook apps to place your bets from anywhere in the state. Sports betting is off to an excellent start in Illinois, and Cubs' fans are certainly happy to have a chance to bet on their team.
