New Orleans have plenty of nationally televised games, and a top five player in the league that everybody wants to see. This is a team that really turned the corner late last season, and eventually made the playoffs. Playing in Houston’s division it is tough to see them finishing ahead of them, but they will contend with San Antonio for second. They do get to face Memphis and Dallas which helps, given they are easily better teams. Although they oddly went 9-7 against their division, but Houston and San Antonio handed them a majority of those losses. The Pelicans don’t have a Christmas Day game, but do play the Grizzlies on Martin Luther King Jr Day. They also have a handful of nationally televised games against the Lakers, Thunder, Timberwolves, Golden State, and Portland. The Pelicans end the year against Golden State, but have the Kings (x2), Suns, Hornets, Kings, and the Hawks. New Orleans has a pretty friendly run in, and they will need it for the playoffs. The Pelicans dominated the Eastern Conference, going 21-9, this is the fourth most wins in the Western Conference. The Pelicans were two games above .500 against the Western Conference, which was good enough in comparison to the rest of the league. The Pelicans went .500 against teams above it, which was actually a huge step in the right direction given they are a young team. The Pelicans dominated teams below .500, and you need to if you want to make it in the West. They won 24 out of 32 games. The Pelicans will need to continue to beat on bad teams if they want to get back to the playoffs, and if they want to move up any more, a few more quality wins will certainly help out.
