2026 Rocket Classic Odds, Picks, Predictions: Best Bets, Props, OAD
The Midwest swing comes to an end this week, as many of the PGA Tour’s best are set to converge at Detroit Golf Club for the 2026 Rocket Classic this Thursday. It will no longer be the birdie-fest of the past this time around, however, as an extensive restoration project will make Detroit Golf Club play as a sterner test. Now a par-70 with two fewer par 5s, expect the best ball-strikers to be properly rewarded. While there is much to speculate around how this new-look version of Detroit Golf Club is going to play, it’s clear they are making a concerted effort to not get the birdie-fest results this event has produced since joining the PGA Tour in 2019. That means a steeper penalty for misfires off the tee, and a heightened importance on accuracy over distance this time around at Detroit Golf Club. Ahead, we’ll run through all the bets I’ve placed for the 2026 Rocket Classic.

How I Built My Rocket Classic Betting Card
There is plenty to like about the favorites this week, as Cameron Young, Chris Gotterup, and Wyndham Clark each have a compelling case for PGA Tour Player of the Year honors, and have solid course history at Detroit Golf Club as well. However, with this being our first look at the course post-renovation, I’ve opted to begin my card in the next tier, allowing for more diversified skillsets in the event this course plays differently than we expect. Overall, I’ve prioritized in-form players who lean on accuracy and putting as the strengths of their games. From a unit allocation standpoint, it’s back to business as usual for my weekly stake at the 2026 Rocket Classic.
- Outrights — 3.5U in to pay 25U each
- FRL — 0.5U in to pay out 10U+ each
- Full tournament matchups — 1U in to pay out 2U
- Props — 1.5U in to pay out 3U+ each
Rocket Classic Odds: Outright Bets (3.5 units)
JJ Spaun
My Bet: +3500
JJ Spaun was probably not thrilled to hear that Detroit Golf Club would be getting a complete overhaul. He is the only player in this field to have finished top-35 in all six prior appearances at the Rocket Classic, including two top-10s over his last three starts here. Upon closer inspection, however, this refreshed version of Detroit Golf Club should be even better suited to Spaun’s strengths. Spaun looks to be on his way to his first career Presidents Cup start this Fall, ranking 14th in OWGR and 20th in the FedEx Cup Standings. He’s looked like a major champion ever since his win at the Valero Texas Open, with six top-15 finishes over his last 12 starts. Spaun ranks No. 6 overall in model this week, and as the best approach player in this field over the last 36 rounds, I expect him to be a factor at the Rocket Classic.
Ben Griffin
My Bet: +3500
Ben Griffin is my official pick to win the 2026 Rocket Classic. There’s much to like about Griffin’s profile for Detroit Golf Club, as he ranks top-15 in SG: TOT (L36), Prox: 100-150, SG: ARG, SG: Putting, and Comp Course History. While he’s not yet won in 2026, he is trending at the right time now, with seven top-20 finishes over his last 10 starts. Griffin profiles as an elite putter, consistent driver with above-average driving distance, and excellent approach player from inside 150 yards. That is an ideal makeup for this revamped of Detroit Golf Club, which will play about 50 yards shorter than years past, and will reward the best wedge players from the fairway. As one of the best putters in this field, Griffin has a great history on Donald Ross courses, including top-15 finishes in his most recent trips to Ross’ Aronimink Golf Club, Sedgefield Country Club, East Lake, and right here at Detroit Golf Club in 2025.
Hideki Matsuyama
My Bet:+3900
Don’t look now, but over the last month, Hideki Matsuyama has made some concerted changes to prioritize accuracy off-the-tee. As one of the most lethal players on Tour from fairway-to-green, playing more consistently from the fairways has paid immediate dividends for Hideki. He’s now finished T14, T14, and T3 over his last three starts leading into this week. While a change in the schedule has invited some new faces to Detroit this week, Matsuyama is hardly a stranger here. He’s set to make his sixth career start at the Rocket Classic this week, with three prior top-20 finishes. If we’re to assume the restoration efforts were done to toughen up the course and further penalize poor shots, then that should play right into the strengths of a player like Matsuyama, whose ability to play from the fairway and scramble around the green are his greatest strengths at the moment.
Ryan Gerard
My Bet:+4600
It has been an excellent 2026 campaign for Ryan Gerard. Since picking up his first career PGA Tour win exactly one year ago at the Barracuda Championship, Gerard has not looked back, ascending to the Team USA Presidents Cup bubble with six top-10 finishes this season. He should enjoy his return to the Midwest, as he played his best golf of the season at the Memorial Tournament, where he fell just short to JT Poston in a playoff. Gerard’s consistency throughout the season has been impressive, ranking 18th in the FedEx Cup Standings and already climbing inside the top-25 of the OWGR rankings. He should carry plenty of confidence about the state of his game entering this week fresh off a T9 finish in his latest start at The Open. Gerard is an excellent profile fit for this new-look Detroit Golf Club, ranking top-20 in SG: TOT (L36), SG: Putting, Driving Accuracy, and Prox: 100-150.
Nicolai Hojgaard
My Bet:+4900
Hojgaard is a proven winner on the DP World Tour, picking up three victories overseas between 2021 and 2023. A PGA Tour win still eludes him, but he’s towards the top of winless players who are most due to find their first soon. There have been plenty of close calls this season for Hojgaard, who finished top-3 at the WM Phoenix Open, Texas Children’s Houston Open, and Truist Championship. More recently, he’s finished top-25 in two of his last three starts, leaning on the strengths of his driving distance and approach play throughout. The course fit has translated at Detroit Golf Club as well. He’s made it through the cut in each of his first three appearances, including top-25 finishes here in 2025 and 2023. Hojgaard is a strong course fit for this setup, ranking top-20 in SG: T2G, SG: OTT, Driving Distance, and Par 5 Scoring.
Jackson Suber
My Bet: +9200
It has been the summer of Suber this season, as the 26-year-old has truly ascended as a regular contender since mid-May. Over his last nine starts, Suber has picked up six top-30s and three top-6s. There’s plenty to like about Suber’s game, as he ranks top-10 in SG: TOT, SG: T2G, SG: APP, SG: Ball Striking, Birdies or Better Gained, and Par 5 Scoring over his last 36 rounds. That’s propelled him to No. 5 overall in my model, which is rare to see for a player at odds this long. It’s been a volatile season for Suber, so I don’t feel discouraged by his missed cut at the 3M Open last week; instead, it creates a great buy-low opportunity for a player who was priced more than half of these odds a week ago. He returns to Detroit with better memories as well, finishing T6 in his Rocket Mortgage debut last year.
Matt Wallace
My Bet:+10000
We may not know for certain how this freshly renovated version of Detroit Golf Club will play, but one thing is for certain on the PGA Tour: approach play always travels. Wallace has been tremendous with his irons of late, ranking 9th in SG: APP over his last five starts. Wallace has gotten his fair share of reps contending this season, with two runner-up finishes over his last 10 starts. Wallace has enjoyed playing at Detroit Golf Club, with two top-12 finishes over five career appearances. He’ll be very motivated this week as well, as he is currently 98th in the FedEx Cup standings and will need two strong weeks to reach the playoffs. With seven top-40 finishes over his last 12 starts, Wallace carries a high floor into Detroit Golf Club this week.
Rocket Classic Bets: First-Round Leader (0.5 units)
Jake Knapp
My Bet: +4500
The first player off my outright betting card is often one of the first FRL bets I place, and that is most definitely the case with Jake Knapp here. Injuries have set Knapp back since his hot start to the season, but a T13 finish at last week’s 3M Open in which he fired the low round of the day on a Sunday (9-under, 62), suggests he is very close to his peak form again.
Ben Griffin
My Bet:+4800
To go low on a Donald Ross course, getting a hot putter is required. That should not be a problem for Griffin, who continues to excel on the greens, and has dominated on Donald Ross greens over the last year. With three top-20s over his last four starts, Griffin is peaking at the right time now with the FedEx Cup Playoffs and Presidents Cup lurking.
Jackson Suber
My Bet: +7400
No two weeks are the same for Suber, but there is no doubting his birdie-making ability on easier course setups. Detroit Golf Club may not be the pure birdie fest it has been pre-restoration, but it remains a relatively short and gettable course for the best iron players. Suber ranks 1st in Par-5 Scoring and 6th in Birdie or Better Percentage over the last 36 rounds, setting a high ceiling for his scoring potential this week.
Emiliano Grillo
My Bet: +9000
The correlation between success at TPC Twin Cities and Detroit Golf Club has always been very high, and now that the two events are positioned back-to-back on the schedule, it sets up to be a great week for a player like Grillo to keep the pedal down. Grillo finished T7 at the 3M Open, his fourth consecutive top-26 finish. He looks confident with his putter now – which is not always the case with Grillo – so if his form holds on the greens, he has a great opportunity to go low this Thursday.
Lucas Glover
My Bet: +11500
There has been a precipitous drop in Lucas Glover putting stats after round 1. Maybe that is from the added attention as galleries build with him in contention. Or, maybe he struggles to make short putts as more spike marks build up around the hole with each passing day. Whatever the case may be, Glover’s ball-striking is top-tier in this field and he should have plenty of looks at birdie this week in Detroit.
Rocket Classic Picks: Props (2.5 units)
Full Tournament Matchup: Ryan Gerard over Akshay Bhatia
My Bet: -120
After Jackson Koivun’s impressive victory at the 3M Open, many believe he has catapulted past both Gerard and Bhatia for the final spot on the Team USA Presidents Cup team. While both players in this matchup will be highly motivated to finish their seasons strong, it’s Gerard whose game carries the fewest question marks at this stage of the year. Gerard has three top-10 finishes over his last six starts now, including a T9 in his most recent start at The Open. Bhatia’s form has been more volatile, with three missed cuts and just one top-10 over the same span. Considering the latest renovations at Detroit Golf Club should offer a steeper penalty for inaccurate drives, Gerard has proven to be the far more reliable player off the tee.
Top-20 Finish: Ryan Gerard
My Bet: +200
The matchup bet is less a bet against Akshay and more a doubling down on Gerard, who I believe has very high top-20 potential this week. Ranking 6th in SG: TOT over the last 36 rounds, Gerard is one of the most well-rounded players in this field. The strengths of Gerard’s game are his Total Driving, spike approach upside, and putting skill. Those will all be of premium importance on this new-look version of Detroit Golf Club.
Top-20 Finish: Matt Wallace
My Bet: +400
Approach play is important every week on the PGA Tour, and while other areas of Wallace’s game have been volatile of late, his iron game is strong enough to give himself plenty of birdie looks at Detroit Golf Club. Wallace has gained on approach in 10 of his last 11 starts, and has finished top-12 in two of his first five appearances at the Rocket Classic.
One & Done
My Pick: Ben Griffin
Griffin is my pick to win this week, and having him still available to use in One And Done makes this a very quick and easy decision. The floor is extremely high for Griffin right now, having finished top-20 in seven of his last 10 starts. Detroit Golf Club is designed to play into the strengths of his game: elite wedge play and skilled putting. With finishes of T33, T31, and T13 in his first three Rocket Classic starts, I see no reason for his great momentum to stop now. If not Griffin, I would also consider playing Jackson Koivun, JJ Spaun, or Hideki Matsuyama in OAD.
