Best Bet: LSU -6 (-115) at DraftKings

Best Bet: O52.5 (-110)

Score Prediction: LSU 30, Alabama 23

The Pick: LSU 30, Alabama 23

We’ll take LSU’s spread based on Alabama’s ATS road struggles along with the Over based on both team’s 2026 betting data.

Game Betting Analysis

LSU covering and the Over hitting seem to be sound plays for this one, but let’s dive into it, because neither is a given. Alabama has dropped the spread in eight of nine road games when playing as a Top 10 AP ranked school. Heading into a hostile environment where LSU has won eight straight games as a Top 15 AP ranked school. Is the -6-point spread too much, though? Also, Alabama has covered the spread in the last three meetings – all as the favorite. The total going Over is supported by both school’s O/U record this season, LSU entering at 5-3 and Alabama 6-2, a combined 11-5 O/U mark. The setback here is Alabama going Under in its last six games played in November. Pick your poison, ours will be LSU and the Over.

Deciding Factor: LSU’s Explosive Leavitt-Led Offense vs. Alabama’s Freshman Bounce-Back

LSU, No. 15 in the country at 6-2 and hosting Alabama in Lane Kiffin’s first season in Baton Rouge, built this matchup on an offense that’s quietly become one of the best in the country: the Tigers rank seventh nationally in scoring (40.1 points per game) and sixth in total yards (510.0 per game) behind Arizona State transfer Sam Leavitt, who went 32-of-45 for 387 yards and three touchdowns without an interception in a 38-17 blowout of Auburn two weeks ago. Leavitt spread the ball to Jackson Harris (nine catches, 178 yards, two touchdowns, including a 70-yard score) and Dilin Jones (19 carries, 90 yards, a rushing touchdown) as LSU poured in 31 first-half points, its most against an SEC opponent since 2020. Alabama’s defense has had its own trouble defending the pass, ranking just 80th nationally in yards allowed through the air (222.4 per game) even though it’s stingier overall (21.3 points allowed per game, 45th) — and if Leavitt and that receiving corps carry over the rhythm from the Auburn game, LSU’s offense alone could be enough to cover at home.

The Crimson Tide, meanwhile, are coming off a breakthrough of their own, with sophomore Keelon Russell throwing three touchdown passes in a 31-20 win over Texas A&M that snapped a two-game skid following back-to-back losses to Georgia (17-20) and Tennessee (10-26). Alabama’s best path here leans on a defense that, while allowing a middling 330.4 total yards per game (42nd nationally), has held up well against the run (108.0 yards allowed per game) — a wrinkle that matters against an LSU defense that is otherwise one of the best units in the SEC (16.0 points allowed per game, 16th nationally; 172.8 passing yards allowed, 13th) but has played the last several games without leading tackler Whit Weeks, who fractured his fibula against Texas A&M in Week 4 and still has no confirmed timetable to return. LSU is favored by 5.5 with the total set at 51.5, but if Russell builds on the form he showed against the Aggies and Alabama’s defense can make the Tigers one-dimensional without Weeks patrolling the middle, the Crimson Tide have a real chance to pull the road upset in Death Valley.
