The Pick: Rams 29, Bills 26

We’ll try the Bills’ ATS based on head-to-head data along with both Buffalo’s 2026 stats and trends coming off a loss.

Game Betting Analysis

While some data goes in different directions, the most conviction lies in both Buffalo covering the spread and the Over hitting. Let’s start with the spread, as the Rams are given -3.5-points and have covered eight of nine games against the AFC – our setback. However, the Bills are on a 5-0 ATS run over their last five games when coming off a loss while also covering the spread in three of four games this season and against the Rams in head-to-head data. The outright win is tough to get behind, though, with Los Angeles winning its last six games in Inglewood. While the total has hit in three straight games inside SoFi Stadium (prior to Broncos vs. Chargers on Sunday afternoon), Buffalo is 3-1 to the Over this season while also hitting the Over in four of five games. The ATS has more merit for us, but either is fine to test in a tricky game to wager on.

Bills-Rams Odds (Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under)

Deciding Factor: James Cook’s Buffalo Ground Game vs. Rams’ Suspect Run Front

Buffalo arrives at SoFi Stadium as the betting underdog (Rams -2.5 to -3.5 depending on the book, O/U 54.5) off a deflating 29-26 home loss to New England, but the one trend line pointing up for the Bills is the ground game, and it’s arriving at the right time: with WR D.J. Moore “doubtful-leaning” after aggravating his shoulder in Week 4, Buffalo has every incentive to keep leaning on James Cook, who turned 12 carries into 75 yards and a touchdown last week and has helped push Buffalo’s team average to 5.1 yards per carry, the third-highest clip in the NFL this season, well ahead of even the Rams’ own 4.8-yard average (tied for fifth). Josh Allen compounds the problem as a runner in his own right — 118 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns on just 33 carries so far — forcing Los Angeles to account for zone-read keepers before it can fully load up on Cook. Establishing that run game early would let Buffalo dictate tempo on the road against a desperate opponent and keep Allen, who already owns strong career Monday Night Football numbers (255.6 passing yards and 2.5 touchdowns per game across eight prior MNF starts), from having to force throws into a Rams secondary that just traded for Trent McDuffie and signed Jaylen Watson this offseason. If the last three weeks of ground production travel to SoFi, Buffalo can own the clock and shrink the number of possessions Matthew Stafford gets to work with.

The Rams, meanwhile, enter this matchup with real questions up front against the run, and their offseason math on that front hasn’t broken their way. Last season’s unit ranked a respectable 14th in yards per carry allowed to backs (4.2) but a league-worst 31st in forced negative-run rate, and Los Angeles addressed that need by sending Jared Verse to Cleveland for Myles Garrett — only for Garrett to undergo knee surgery in September and still miss most of this season, leaving the Rams having moved on from an ascending run defender without the replacement they traded for ever taking the field. That shifts the point-of-attack burden onto Byron Young (coming off a 12-sack, Pro Bowl 2025), second-year edge Josaiah Stewart, and interior pieces Kobie Turner, Poona Ford and Braden Fiske, none of whom profile as the three-down run anchor Verse was. Aaron Donald, working back from a back issue, is trending toward playing Monday per Sean McVay but isn’t a sure thing for a full workload. If Young and that front can still close rushing lanes well enough despite the net talent lost in the Garrett trade, and if Stafford — already at 1,189 yards and 6 touchdowns, albeit with 6 interceptions and multi-pick games in each of his last two outings — can push Los Angeles to a multi-score lead that forces Cook’s hand into obvious passing downs, the Rams have a real path to winning the line of scrimmage anyway, with a desperate home crowd and the Rams’ fourth primetime appearance in five weeks adding an extra gear to their defensive effort.
