Best Bet: UF +11 (-110) at Hard Rock Bet
Best Bet: O51.5 (-110)
Score Prediction: Texas 31, Florida 21
The Pick: Texas 31, Florida 21
We’ll try the Over based on Florida’s data this season and against schools from Texas, while the quarterback situation leaves the Florida ATS market on the table as well.
Game Betting Analysis
We have another tricky game on our hands as the quarterback decision will drastically change things, but signs are point to Aaron Philo starting for Florida. The data supports a Florida cover, so this becomes crucial information when wagering or trading, if Philo plays or not? Texas is just 1-4 on the ATS entering this game in 2026, also failing to cover an insane 14 of 15 games as an AP ranked school when facing non-AP ranked schools in October. The Over has more conviction, though hitting in both the 2024 and 2025 meeting, while the Gators enter 4-2 on the O/U this season. Florida has also hit the Over in its last six games when facing a school from Texas, so we’ll go with the Over and if you have conviction in Philo playing then the Gators to cover is fine as well.

Deciding Factor: Texas’s Suffocating Defense vs. Florida’s Game-Time Call at Quarterback
No. 7 Texas (4-1) is a heavy home favorite (-10.5, around -420 on the moneyline) at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, and that number is built almost entirely on a defense that ranks 2nd nationally in adjusted EPA per play, allows just 16.0 points per game (13th in the country) and surrenders only 29.9% of available yards. The Longhorns have leaned on that identity even harder since dropping from the No. 1 spot following a loss to Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry two weeks ago, a game in which quarterback Arch Manning threw two of his five interceptions on the season. Manning’s overall line — 63.0% completion, 1,122 yards, 10 touchdowns and those 5 picks, plus 39 carries for 102 rushing yards — has been underwhelming for a player with his pedigree, with advanced metrics ranking him just 89th nationally in EPA per play and Texas’s offense sitting 55th in success rate and 67th in EPA per pass. Steve Sarkisian’s team is winning on the strength of its defense and avoiding mistakes, not through a dynamic passing game, which puts even more weight on containing whichever quarterback Florida ultimately trots out Saturday.
Florida, meanwhile, brings the inverse problem into Austin — a genuinely explosive offense (41.7 points per game, 10th nationally, 8th in EPA per pass) paired with a defense that’s been a sieve, allowing 29.0 points per game (117th nationally), a 49.7% success rate (123rd) and ranking 136th on third- and fourth-down stops. Jon Sumrall’s Gators have dropped two straight, most recently to South Carolina, and now arrive with real uncertainty at the position that powers their attack: starting quarterback Aaron Philo, who has completed 70.5% of his passes for 1,341 yards, 9 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions, is a game-time decision with a shoulder injury, though he was seen throwing at Thursday’s practice. If Philo can’t go, sophomore Tramell Jones would make his first career start on the road against the nation’s No. 2 defense by EPA — about as brutal a landing spot as exists for a debut. Florida does get a bit of good injury news elsewhere, with wide receiver Vernell Brown III having a real shot to play after missing two games with a knee injury. If Philo suits up and Florida’s offense operates at its normal explosive pace, the Gators have enough firepower to hang around with anyone, leaky defense or not; but if Philo is out and Tramell Jones is forced into his first career start against Texas’s smothering front, the Longhorns’ defense should be more than enough to cover comfortably at home.
