Game Betting Analysis
The ATS market is hot for this one, while the Over presents a solid look as well. Let’s begin with the Minnesota spread, which is glowing based on the data but let’s also not forget quarterback Josh Hoover is dealing with a possible shoulder issue – something to note for this game in general. Minnesota has covered the spread in three straight meetings with Indiana, also entering this game with a solid 5-2 ATS mark on the season. The Hoosiers are also free-falling in the ATS market, with a terrible 1-7 mark this season while failing to cover its last six at home. Moving to the total, the Over has hit in three straight head-to-heads, with Minnesota going Over in its last six on the road. However, the combined O/U record for both schools entering sits at 6-9 slightly leaning Under – so we’ll stick with the Minnesota spread for now.

Deciding Factor: Minnesota’s Sack-Happy, Takeaway-Hungry Defense vs. Josh Hoover’s Banged-Up Arm
Minnesota enters at 5-2 behind a defense that’s been legitimately elite when it matters. Through seven games, the Gophers are allowing just 288.7 total yards per game — 165.1 through the air on a stingy 58.1% completion rate allowed and a 116.94 opposing passer rating, plus only 123.6 rushing yards per game at 3.81 yards a carry — while holding opponents to 20.1 points per game. The pass rush has been equally disruptive, racking up 15 sacks (led by TJ Bush Jr.’s four and Karter Menz’s three), and the unit has forced 12 turnovers on the year (seven interceptions, five recovered fumbles). That defense was the entire story in a 13-10 win over then-No. 15 Iowa on Oct. 24, holding an Iowa offense that had topped 40 points twice this season to a single field goal’s worth of real offense, and it also anchored a 20-14 Little Brown Jug win over Michigan and a 27-24 road win at Washington. That identity now runs into an Indiana offense that’s leaning more and more on a quarterback who isn’t fully healthy.
The Indiana Hoosiers, meanwhile, arrive at 7-1 and ranked No. 4 as the reigning national champion, but Josh Hoover — who opened the season with four touchdown passes in his debut and has thrown just one interception all year — is playing through a right arm injury that first surfaced in an Oct. 17 loss to Ohio State and has visibly sapped his output since. After throwing for 296 yards in that defeat, Hoover was limited to 8-of-18 for 81 yards with an interception in last week’s overtime survival at Michigan, a 13-6 win Indiana escaped only because Hoover supplied the winning touchdown with his legs rather than his arm. Coach Curt Cignetti insists Hoover will start and play better this week, and backup Grant Wilson remains on the bench despite a strong week of practice. If Hoover’s arm has recovered enough to push the ball downfield the way he did for his first six games, Indiana’s talent gap should be enough on its own; but if Minnesota’s defense delivers anything close to the version that just suffocated Iowa, a hobbled, one-dimensional Hoover could be walking into the worst possible matchup to shake off his slump.
