Game Betting Analysis
Big, flashing neons signs you’d see at a ‘Bar and Grill’ are points to the Under here. Iowa has hit the Under in three of four home games this season, also seeing the Under hit in four of five meetings with Wisconsin. The Hawkeyes enter this meeting with the Badgers at a 2-5 O/U record this season, with quarterback trouble and now their star offensive player in Kamari Moulton out for the season. Points will be tough. For the Badgers, they have hit the Under in nine straight games when playing in the month of October, also having quarterback issues with Colton Joseph’s sporadic play through the air. Iowa has covered the spread in the last four head-to-heads, but have also dropped the spread in nine straight games when facing AP ranked schools in October. We’ll stick to the total’s overwhelming support here.

Deciding Factor: Wisconsin’s Nation-Best Defense vs. Iowa’s Kamari Moulton Replacement
Wisconsin brings one of the most statistically dominant defenses in the country into this matchup, and the numbers back up the eye test: PFF rates the Badgers’ defense third-best nationally at a 92.6 grade, trailing only Georgia and Notre Dame and tied with LSU and Michigan, while Wisconsin allows a touchdown on just 11.5% of opponent drives, sixth-best in the FBS and tied with Ohio State. The Badgers also rank 11th nationally in passing yards allowed per game (152.6) and own the best blitz pressure rate in the country at 19%, anchored by linebacker Cooper Catalano, who leads the Big Ten with 45 tackles and carries an 86.5 PFF grade, with running mate Mason Posa right behind him at 85.8 — Wisconsin is the only team in the country with two linebackers graded that highly. That unit was on full display in a 24-7 win over USC, holding the Trojans to -17 rushing yards and intercepting quarterback Jayden Maiava twice, part of a stretch in which Wisconsin has allowed 13 points or fewer in five of its last six games. Against an Iowa offense that just turned the ball over four times in a loss, a defense built on takeaways and drive-killing pressure is squarely favored to force the same kind of mistakes again.
The Iowa Hawkeyes, meanwhile, will be without leading rusher Kamari Moulton, who is done for the season after suffering an upper-body injury in the second quarter of Iowa’s loss at Minnesota. Moulton was the engine of this offense — 541 yards on 86 carries (6.3 yards per attempt) and four touchdowns through six games, including a career-best 208-yard, two-score outing at Washington — and replacing that production falls to redshirt freshman Xavier Williams, who’s been named the starter against Wisconsin after rushing for 190 yards on 25 carries this season. Williams flashed early with 122 yards in the season opener but has just 85 yards on 18 touches since, and missed time himself with an arm injury before working back into the lineup; Braeden Jackson, Nathan McNeil and a still-recovering LJ Phillips (a South Dakota transfer) round out a committee that now has to find rushing lanes against the nation’s most disruptive front seven. If Williams and that backfield can approximate anything close to Moulton’s per-carry efficiency, Iowa can still control tempo and keep Wisconsin’s own shaky offense off the field; but if Wisconsin’s blitz-heavy, 19%-pressure-rate defense bottles up an unproven, injury-thinned run game the way it did USC’s, Iowa’s thinnest position group could be exactly what extends its skid in this series to five straight.
