👑 Freddy Peralta – TB/SP/MVP ($16,500)
Freddy Peralta has been terrific for the Rays lately. Coming into the postseason, he had allowed a combined three earned runs in his last six starts, spanning 34 innings. In his lone postseason start vs the Yankees, he went 4.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits with one walk and three strikeouts. While the Rays had a quick hook on him at 66 pitches, I like firing Peralta up as captain because you save some money compared to Parker Messick.
This allows you to pay up for some other sluggers. With how well Peralta has pitched lately, I’ll take a shot that he can keep it rolling.
Junior Caminero – TB/UTIL ($9,600)
Junior Caminero had a spectacular season for the Rays, slashing .276/.360/.524 with 42 home runs in 616 at-bats. However, he’s had a quiet postseason so far, as he’s yet to hit a home run. But the good news is that he’s slowly coming around at the plate, hitting safely in three consecutive games. During this stretch, he’s gone 4-for-12 with three runs and one RBI.
It feels like it’s only a matter of time before Caminero goes yard. Game 2 is a must-win spot for the Rays, as they need to avoid going down 2-0 as they head to Cleveland for three road games. Let’s ride with their best player to get it done.
Yandy Diaz – TB/UTIL ($8,400)
Yandy Diaz continues to be among the most underrated hitters in MLB. He’s coming off another rock-solid season where he slashed .293/.359/.446 with 22 home runs in 614 at-bats. We’ve seen him hit safely in five consecutive games, including a 2-for-5 performance in Game 1 of the ALCS.
As the leadoff hitter for the Rays, Diaz is the perfect pairing with Caminero, who hits third in the lineup.
Ryan Vilade – TB/UTIL ($4,200)
Ryan Vilade is a right-handed hitter who has crushed lefties this season, putting up a 126 wRC+ against them (81 wRC+ vs. righties). We saw Vilade hit in the cleanup spot in Game 1, so he’ll have at least a couple of at-bats behind Diaz and Caminero, making him an ideal stack partner.
While there’s a high risk that he’ll either be pinch hit or pinch run for in this game, I can’t pass up those two at-bats in the cleanup spot, especially at such a cheap salary at $4,200.
Chase DeLauter – CLE/UTIL ($7,400)
Chase DeLauter delivered for us on the Monday DFS slate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one homer, and one RBI. The rookie outfielder has been phenomenal for the Guardians this season, and the playoffs have been no different.
DeLauter continues to be priced modestly on DFS despite hitting safely in five consecutive games. During this stretch, he’s gone 8-for-20 with one homer, three RBI, and five runs.
Patrick Bailey – CLE/UTIL ($3,800)
Patrick Bailey is known more for his defensive ability behind the plate, but he’s come through at the plate in a big way of late. We saw him go 2-for-4 with one homer, one run, and one RBI in Game 1 of the ALCS. He’s now homered in two of the last three games for the Guardians.
Bailey has really been an unsung hero for this team, making him the perfect pick to finish our lineup, especially since he’s only at $3,800.
