Chris Sale – ATL/SP ($10,000)

We’re paying a premium for pitching on the Tuesday slate, starting with Chris Sale. The veteran lefty was phenomenal for the Braves this year, putting up a 2.16 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP with 200 strikeouts and 31 walks in 162.2 innings.

So far in the playoffs, he’s given up three earned runs in 7.2 innings, racking up 12 strikeouts with only one walk. Look for Sale to answer the call with a strong outing in a pivotal Game 3 against the Dodgers.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto – LAD/SP ($9,500)

Yoshinobu Yamamoto did his usual damage during the regular season, registering a 2.53 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP with 182 strikeouts and 41 walks in 185 innings.

This is his first start of this year’s postseason. We all remember how dominant he was last year, especially in the World Series. Bet on Yamamoto putting up a stellar outing in a huge game here.

Ethan Salas – SD/C ($2,400)

Since we spent so much of our salary on starting pitching, we need to find salary relief somewhere. Ethan Salas provides that at a $2.4K price. This is a top prospect who didn’t play last game, but could be re-inserted into the lineup here.

Salas went 1-for-3 with a run in Game 1. If he doesn’t end up playing, you can replace him with Sean Murphy of the Braves. He’s priced at $2.5K but offers some power, making him worth a look at the cheap price.

Ty France – SD/1B ($3,700)

Ty France is another hitter who provides salary relief. I want to make sure to save even more cap space on the infield because I plan to pay a premium in the outfield.

Following up a surprising season, France has been excellent in the playoffs, putting up three two-hit games with two RBI and two runs. He hits in the heart of the Padres’ order, giving him several opportunities to rack up counting stats.

Jake Cronenworth – SD/2B ($2,800)

Jake Cronenworth has struggled in the playoffs, going 1-for-13 so far. He wasn’t exactly great in the regular season, either, putting up seven homers in 377 at-bats.

Simply put, this is just throwing another Padre into the lineup against Dustin May, who was inconsistent this year. The hope is that he can get on base for our other Padres’ slugger, who we’ll get into later in this article.

Joey Ortiz – MIL/3B ($3,100)

Sticking with the theme of saving salary on the infield, we’ll go with Joey Ortiz at third base. He didn’t play last game, but I expect him to get back into the lineup in this one.

Ortiz hit .270 with nine homers and nine steals in 371 at-bats this season. Having that batting average at such a cheap price makes him intriguing in this spot, even though Nick Pivetta has been sharp for San Diego.

Cooper Pratt – SD/SS ($3,200)

Cooper Pratt finishes off our infield salary relief. The rookie shortstop hit .281 with three homers and 19 steals in 228 at-bats this season. It was a respectable performance in his first year.

He’s yet to steal a base in the playoffs, so maybe this is the game where he can get one, facing Nick Pivetta. But the bottom line is, he provides salary relief to let us fit in two superstars.

Fernando Tatis Jr. – SD/OF ($5,800)

Fernando Tatis Jr. was one of the hottest hitters in baseball in the second half. He ended up finishing with 25 home runs and a .470 slugging percentage. He also ran wild on the basepaths, putting up 38 steals.

With the Padres facing elimination at home, bet on Tatis putting forth a strong performance, perhaps even a home run in this one. It’s likely that the Padres win this game, with their bats coming alive.

Jackson Chourio – MIL/OF ($5,700)

Jackson Chourio hit 25 home runs and stole 23 bases with a .291 batting average in 522 at-bats this season. Simply put, this is an absolute superstar.

We saw him come up with a clutch two-run single to win Game 2 for the Brewers. We’ll take a shot that he keeps it rolling against Nick Pivetta here. Chourio already has one homer and four RBI in two games during these playoffs.

Christian Yelich – MIL/OF ($3,700)

Christian Yelich finishes off our Brewers stack. The veteran hit only .235 with 12 home runs and 11 stolen bases this season, so it was a disappointing year for him.

However, he has hit safely in each game during this series, including two runs in Game 2. He’s a nice pairing with Chourio. As you can see, we’re betting on a low-scoring game between the Dodgers and Braves, expecting more runs in Brewers-Padres, which is why I’ve built a game stack there.
