Home Run Prop Predictions & Odds: MLB HR Best Bets for Sunday, October 4th
Sunday’s Division Series slate is must-see stuff: the Padres and Brewers run it back in Milwaukee with San Diego already facing a win-or-fall-behind spot, while out in Los Angeles the Braves and Dodgers shift to Dodger Stadium with Atlanta’s pitching staff stretched thinner than anyone outside their own clubhouse expected two days into October. Two series, two teams trying to crawl back from 0-1, and a full day of home run upside buried in the matchups if you know where to look.
Teoscar Hernández (Dodgers vs. Braves) Home Run Odds
This is as much a pitching-plan play as a hitter play. The Braves are so thin that Chris Sale and Tyler Mahle are reportedly the only two pitchers on the roster capable of a traditional start the rest of the series, and after Game 1’s opener-and-bullpen approach already gave up homers to three different Dodgers (Hernández included), there’s a real chance Atlanta cycles through multiple shorter-leash arms again today. Hernández already has one deep ball in this series and gets more at-bats against fresher, lower-leverage relievers in that scenario.
Fernando Tatis Jr. (Padres vs. Brewers) Home Run Odds
Tatis has 25 homers this season and the raw power to punish a mistake, and Henderson is the most homer-prone of the four starters in action today — 14 home runs allowed in 98.1 innings (1.28 HR/9), with a hard-hit rate that jumped to 36.9%. San Diego’s down 0-1 and needs a spark; Tatis is their best bet to provide it.
Mookie Betts (Dodgers vs. Braves) Home Run Odds
Betts is trending the right direction into October — hitting .833 over his last three regular-season games and finishing with 23 home runs on the year (6.3% barrel rate, 90.2 mph average exit velo). He steps into the same favorable spot Teoscar Hernández is in: an Atlanta staff that may be down to Chris Sale or Tyler Mahle as its only real traditional-start options, with everything else trending toward another bullpen game like Game 1. More unproven arms cycling through means more mistakes for a lineup stacked with power, and Betts has been locked in at the plate at the right time.
