To round out the card, Pavel Dorofeyev and Beckett Sennecke have a great opportunity to light the lamp while skating circles around a pair of back lines who struggle to defend their net. Dylan Larkin (Red Wings vs. Kraken) Game Odds
Even after requesting a trade in the offseason, Dylan Larkin did not show any lack of motivation in his return to the ice, scoring a Goal in his debut against the Ottawa Senators while generating a total of 0.86 Expected Goals in 20 minutes.
Heading into Friday night’s matchup against the Seattle Kraken, Larkin will be able to continue to pressure the net at a high rate by taking advantage of a back line who currently resides in the bottom half of the board in Expected Goals Against in 5-on-5 Play. The production Larkin receives from his linemate Lucas Raymond will also help pull Joey Daccord out of the Kraken’s net, widening the width of his shooting lanes on the outside.
In the Power Play, Larkin is accompanied by Alex DeBrincat and Moritz Seider, giving the Red Wings the versatility they need to consistently scramble the Kraken’s coverage. When a lane to the net opens up, Larkin will be able to exploit it by generating a high volume of shot attempts in front of the crease and score his second Goal of the season.
Pavel Dorofeyev (Rangers vs. Capitals) Goal Odds
In his first stint with the New York Rangers, Pavel Dorofeyev has been able to make an immediate impact, generating 0.37 Expected Goals while leading the team in Shots on Goal with an average of three per game.
In a favorable matchup against the Washington Capitals, Dorofeyev will be able to rifle off higher quality Shots on Goal while relentlessly attacking a back line who struggles in coverage per their bottom three mark in Expected Goals Against in All Situations. Even with Logan Thompson playing at a high level, the Rangers versatility will force the Capitals goalie to scramble between the pipes, creating larger gaps across the net.
When in 5-on-4 Situations, Dorfeyev has been able to continue to pressure the net at a high rate, averaging 0.11 Expected Goals per penalty. With his workload expected to grow while getting acquainted with his new linemates, expect Dorofeyev to generate a higher volume of Shots on Goal, increasing his chances of scoring.
Beckett Sennecke (Ducks vs. Jets) Goal Odds
Since the start of the regular season, Beckett Sennecke has been able to stuff the stat sheet for the Anaheim Ducks, scoring three Goals in as many games while dishing out one Assist.
With the Winnipeg Jets on deck, Sennecke will be able to string together his performance by picking apart a back line who ranks well below league average in Expected Goals Against in 5-on-5 Play and From High Danger Shots. Especially with negative regression looming large over Stuart Skinner who is quietly averaging a Save Percentage of .920, lacking the individual production that is needed to wall off a front line that ranked near the top of the board in Expected Goals For last season.
Sennecke also gets the benefit of skating alongside Cutter Gauthier in the Ducks first Power Play unit, a surgical scorer who will pull the Jets defensive attention towards him, creating more space in the middle for his linemates to weave the puck through.
