Later in the night, we shift our focus to Timo Meier and Lucas Raymond, a pair of productive forwards who pressure the net at a high rate. If you have not already, check out our NHL betting trends page for the latest daily game odds, insight, and data.
Pavel Dorofeyev (Rangers vs. Maple Leafs) Goal Odds
In his first stint with the New York Rangers, Pavel Dorofeyev has been able to recapture the same success he had with the Vegas Golden Knights, generating 0.49 Expected Goals while averaging 3.18 Shots on Goal per game.
Heading into Thursday night’s contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Dorofeyev will be able to continue to generate a high volume of Shots on Goal while weaving the puck through a back line that ranks 27th in Expected Goals Against in All Situations. With his last line of defense underwhelming in coverage, Sergei Bobrovsky has been unable to protect the Maple Leafs net, giving up nearly three Goals Against per game.
When in the Power Play, Dorofeyev has been the focal point of the offense while leading the first unit in Shots on Goal with an average of one per penalty. With the Maple Leafs struggling to keep a defender near the vicinity of shot attempts, Dorofeyev will be able to rifle off a higher volume of Shots on Goal in front of the crease, increasing his chances of scoring.
Timo Meier (Devils vs. Ducks) Goal Odds
Even though Timo Meier comfortably leads the New Jersey Devils in Shots on Goal, his aggression has hardly been rewarded, scoring just one Goal in nine starts. During that span, Meier has been able to rattle off high quality shot attempts at a consistent rate, generating 0.34 Expected Goals per game.
Fortunately for Meier, he will have a great opportunity to light the lamp against Anaheim by taking advantage of a back line that ranks in the bottom five in Expected Goals Against in 5-on-5 Play. Especially with Lukas Dostal incapable of matching the Devils output while scrambling between the pipes, averaging 3.16 Goals Against per game and a Save Percentage of .881.
In 5-on-4 Situations, Meier’s usage rate steadily ticks up while running the second unit, keeping his workload intact. When Meier is able to join Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier in the top line, the duo is able to pull defensive attention away from him, improving the quality of his Shots on Goal.
Lucas Raymond (Red Wings vs. Canucks) Goal Odds
After failing to find the back of the net earlier in the year, Lucas Raymond was finally able to snap out of his slump by scoring a Goal in his previous start against the Seattle Kraken. Even during his skid, Raymond was still productive, generating 0.40 Expected Goals while averaging three Shots on Goal per game.
In a favorable matchup against the Vancouver Canucks, Raymond will be able to build on his momentum by attacking a defense that struggles to wall off shot attempts in front of the net per their near dead last mark in Expected Goals Against From High Danger Shots. With the Canucks back line conceding a high volume of Shots on Goal on a nightly basis, Kevin Lankinen has been abysmal, giving up 6.40 Goals Against per game.
Even when accompanied by Alex DeBrincat and Viktor Arvidsson in the Red Wings first Power Play unit, Raymond has been able to brush aside regression by leading the group in Shots on Goal. To increase your exposure, place a smaller wager on Raymond to score 2+ Goals as well.
