The Pick: Arizona 78, UCLA 73

We’ll go with the Arizona spread based on dominant 2026 betting stats, while the Over is on the table based on Arizona’s trends along with venue data.

Game Betting Analysis

It’s tough to go against Arizona here, one of the best teams to bet on in 2026 and now enter a game in which the Wildcats have won four of five meetings against. The ATS stats are quite overwhelming for Arizona, with a remarkable 10-2 ATS mark over 12 neutral court games in 2026. Arizona also saw a 12-5 ATS record when facing ranked schools and an 11-6-1 ATS mark against schools outside the Big 12. The total suggest an Over play too, with Arizona seeing over 156 total points in nine straight non-conference games when playing on a Monday. We get six points less on the line while T-Mobile saw 159 points averaged per game last season.

UCLA-Arizona Odds (Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under)

Deciding Factor: Motiejus Krivas’s Interior Takeover vs. UCLA’s Thin Frontcourt Depth

Arizona enters No. 5 off a Final Four run — its first since 2001 — under Tommy Lloyd, but this is not the same roster that got there: three of five starters and five of the top eight in last year’s rotation are gone, including NBA draft departures Brayden Burries, Jaden Bradley and Koa Peat, who ultimately stayed in the draft rather than return. What is back, though, might be the single most matchup-winning piece on the floor. Senior center Motiejus Krivas, a preseason All-American and the Big 12 Player of the Year frontrunner, torched this same UCLA team for 10 points and 8 rebounds on 5-of-6 shooting in 34 minutes in last year’s meeting. Arizona also added North Carolina transfer Derek Dixon and Washington transfer JJ Mandaquit to settle the point guard spot, and the Wildcats rolled through all three of their exhibition games unbeaten. With Lloyd’s offense built to get Krivas touches against a UCLA frontcourt that has no proven size behind its starting center, Arizona’s clearest path in this opener is simply feeding the paint and letting its most proven returning piece dictate the game.

UCLA, meanwhile, arrives No. 22 under real pressure on Mick Cronin in what’s being framed as a make-or-break season, and the Bruins’ own roster has turned over almost as much as Arizona’s — Donovan Dent, who retired from basketball ahead of the draft, and Tyler Bilodeau, picked in the second round by Brooklyn, are both gone. That leaves center Xavier Booker, guard Trent Perry and forward Eric Dailey Jr. as the senior holdovers, now paired with Texas Tech transfer Jaylen Petty (22 starts, 30.5 minutes per game last season) running the backcourt. The bigger issue is depth up front: Booker is UCLA’s only proven big body, and the Bruins have finished outside the top 300 nationally in adjusted tempo for three straight seasons — precisely the slow, half-court identity that plays into Arizona’s hands if the Wildcats can speed the game up and pressure UCLA’s still-settling backcourt into mistakes. UCLA was competitive here a year ago, losing just 69-65, and if Booker holds his own against Krivas early while Petty gets the offense organized, the Bruins have shown they can hang. But without a true backup center and without a history of playing at Arizona’s pace, UCLA is fighting the exact style of game its opponent wants to open the season.
