2026 Charles Schwab Challenge Odds: Four Longshots & PGA Tour Golf DFS Picks
The PGA Tour remains in the great Dallas area for the second straight week, with Colonial CC next on tap to host the 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge. Colonial CC is a longstanding venue on the PGA Tour, which received a bit of a facelift in 2024 thanks to Gil Hanse and team. The restoration project has prepared this iconic venue to withstand the modern game for decades to come.
Longshots are viable this week, with this event producing surprise winners like Emiliano Grillo and Davis Riley over the last three years. At just over 7,200 yards on the scorecard, Colonial CC caters to a diverse range of skillsets, opening the door for some unexpected contenders this week. We’ll look to dig for some diamonds in the rough in this article ahead of the 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge.

CHARLES SCHWAB CHALLENGE ODDS
CHARLES SCHWAB CHALLENGE INTRODUCTION
Colonial CC is a classical, tree-lined, and positional golf course with a rich history. As a par 70 just over 7,200 yards, it’s stood the test of time and challenged the field year after year. It keeps scores in check and has led to many dramatic finishes.
There are two ways to go about a course like this. You can either hone in on the most accurate drivers off the tee who will have the highest percentage of approaches from the fairway into these tight greens, or you can take the Bryson at Winged Foot approach. If nobody is hitting these fairways and everyone is hitting their approaches from the rough, it’s better to have a wedge in hand than a mid-iron. That creates a more open feel for longshot contenders on a course that caters to a diverse profile of players.

FINDING VALUE IN GOLF DFS PICKS: CHARLES SCHWAB CHALLENGE
To identify “value” for any given week on the PGA Tour, I find it’s best to understand the consensus key stat profile first. Then, take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the Charles Schwab Challenge, Recent Form, Course History, and SG: Approach are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price.
From a sleeper perspective, I will emphasize the importance of Comp Course History at similar challenging, wind-exposed courses, and Proximity 100-200 as areas to identify buy-low value and differentiate my player pool.
Tony Finau
The Charles Schwab Challenge is not a Signature Event, and while plenty of the OWGR top-20 players have shown out up in Dallas this week, the field still lacks the overall depth we’re used to seeing at prominent PGA Tour tracks. As such, it’s surprising to see a player as established and talented as Tony Finau drift so far down to this price.
It’s been a quiet, yet consistent, 2026 season for Finau, who has just two missed cuts over his last 12 starts. His T6 finish down the road at TPC Craig Ranch last week was his best result of the season thus far, and may be a sign of a better stretch to come. Finau ranked top-20 in the field in SG: OTT, SG: APP, and SG: ARG at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. He should be happy to tee it up at Colonial next, as he’s finished top-25 here in five of his last six visits.
Matt McCarty
A very disappointing showing at the PGA Championship derailed what was otherwise a red hot stretch of form in the middle of the 2026 PGA Tour season for McCarty. I’m willing to look the other way on his performance in a major, considering it was the nuanced greens of Aronimink that led to his undoing. Prior to his missed cut at the PGA Championship, McCarty had strung together four consecutive top-12 finishes.
The 2024 Black Desert Championship winner profiles as a short-yet-accurate driver who can really pop with his irons and putting. Ranking top-15 in Good Drives Gained and SG: TOT (L16 rounds), this looks like a great spot to get right for the young lefty.
Austin Eckroat
The Oklahoma native may be a bit distracted by his Oklahoma City Thunder’s performance in the NBA Western Conference Finals this week, but he, too, will need to prevail over Texas to achieve his ultimate goal. Eckroat is already a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, battling the wind to win at the Mexico Open and Cognizant Classic. He credited his upbringing in Oklahoma as a key to navigating the wind under difficult conditions, and that should play a role at Colonial CC this week as well.
Eckroat’s form has turned a corner recently, finishing top-20 in three of his last four starts. Throughout that stretch, he’s leaned on the strengths of his iron play (5th in SG: APP over the last 36 rounds). Eckroat posted a career-best T16 finish at the Charles Schwab Challenge in 2023, and is playing well enough to add to his total of PGA Tour wins this week.
Mark Hubbard
With no shortage of opportunities, Hubbard continues to search for his first career PGA Tour win in his age-37 season. He came dangerously close in Myrtle Beach just two starts ago, where Brandt Snedeker ultimately chased him down to win by one stroke.
Even still, he’s shown us the approach play is in top form at the moment, gaining over 15 strokes on approach over his last two events. Hubbard is not a long hitter, but has held his own on shorter tracks like Colonial CC, which level the playing field for bombers and plodders alike. Hubbard’s history at the Charles Schwab Challenge includes a T9 finish in 2023, and he has not missed a cut over his seven career appearances. If the irons remain hot, he has a fighting chance to pick up his elusive first win this week.
Best of luck if you bet or play any of these golf DFS picks for the Charles Schwab Challenge!
