2026 Charles Schwab Challenge: Top DraftKings Showdown Plays & Live Bets Ahead of Round 3

The 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge has reached the halfway point, with 75 players advancing through the cut to play the weekend at -2 or better. Jordan Smith leads the way at 10 under par through the first two rounds. He will have his work cut out for him in search of his first career PGA Tour victory, as 24 players remain within four strokes of the lead heading into the weekend.

Looking ahead, we have new data at our disposal to adjust our approach in DFS formats before Round 3 gets underway on Saturday. Conditions have been perfect thus far, but Colonial CC should continue to firm up and pose a challenge for the leaders with afternoon tee times on Saturday. Ahead, we’ll look to identify the players who have shown they are most due for a Round 3 breakout.

Take a look at some of the best pillar players for Charles Schwab Challenge DFS contests and live betting opportunities.

DraftKings Showdown Golf Strategy

DraftKings Golf Showdown Golf is a one-round Daily Fantasy format in which players aim to construct the best-scoring one-round lineup while staying within the allotted salary cap. To identify value in Golf Showdown, it’s typically best to focus on buy-low opportunities on players who’ve shown uncharacteristically poor putting in the prior round. There is also an opportunity to find leverage by identifying favorable weather splits and players who are more likely to card birdies-or-better.

Round 3 Charles Schwab Challenge Showdown Pillar Plays

The birdies have not stopped in this second leg of the Dallas Swing. The 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge has played slightly easier than we’re used to seeing on this classic, positional venue, sitting just under 7,300 yards. Shorter, accurate drivers like Brian Harman, J.J. Spaun, and Russell Henley have set the pace this week, and a simple formula of hot irons and a hot putter may be all it boils down to for Charles Schwab Challenge contenders.

Identifying value players who check each of these boxes can provide valuable bonus points in the DraftKings Showdown format. The three players below will be foundational plays in my Round 3 Showdown lineups for these reasons.

Russell Henley ($10,300)

It’s been steady as they come for Russell Henley out the gates at Colonial Country Club, firing back-to-back rounds of 66 to begin the tournament. He’ll remain one of the favorites to win the Charles Schwab Challenge heading into the weekend, sitting just two strokes off Jordan Smith’s lead.

There were plenty of concerns surrounding Henley’s game leading into this week. He’d gained strokes on approach in just one of his last five events prior to this week, an unheard of thought for one of the best iron players in the world. We’ve seen a return to normalcy in Fort Worth, however, as Henley ranks 6th in SG: APP and 2nd in SG: T2G through the first two rounds. If that form holds, he may be another pair of 66s away from winning this tournament.

Ryan Gerard ($8,600)

Gerard was one poor swing away from leading this event at the halfway point. A drive out of bounds on the 3rd hole led to a double-bogey, but his card was clean otherwise en route to a second-round 67. Gerard will go into the weekend just one stroke off the lead at 9 under par.

Simply put, Colonial requires elite iron play and a hot putter to win. Gerard has followed that formula perfectly to this point, ranking 2nd in SG: APP and 4th in SG: Putting through the first two rounds. Ranking top-20 in the field in SG: APP leading into this week, I expect his hot iron play to continue over the weekend. If it does, he’s positioned well to separate from the pack on Saturday.

Michael Thorbjornsen ($7,800)

Irons and putting have been the blueprint for contenders at Colonial CC, but brute force always has its advantages, too. Thorbjornsen is one of the longest hitters in this field and has leaned on his driver with great success thus far. He ranks 6th in SG: OTT and top-35 in each of the other three strokes gained categories through the first two rounds.

Thorbjornsen is a young and raw talent, but he’s already proven there’s much more to his game than just power alone. Sportsbooks agree, as Thorbjornsen is a top-4 favorite on DraftKings to win this event. He is the only player you’ll find near the top of the live odds board in the $7K price range in Showdown, so he’ll be a fixture in my lineups for the price value alone.

Live Bets To Consider Entering Round 3

Tournament Matchup: Gary Woodland over Ryo Histatsune

Best Available odds: -108

Both players in the matchup will head into the weekend tied at 6 under par. It’s Woodland, however, who’s shown higher upside for the rest of the tournament. Woodland’s driver remains one of the greatest assets on the PGA Tour, and he’s flexed that muscle throughout the first two rounds at Colonial Country Club. He ranks 1st in the field in SG: OTT, rating out No. 1 in Driving Distance and No. 6 in Driving Accuracy. That will lead to a sustainable volume of scoring opportunities, as his length should produce ample wedge shots into these greens, and his accuracy will help avoid significant trouble on this positional venue.

Hisatsune has been steady to start, but in this one-on-one matchup, I’m siding with the major champion who has already proven he can rise over the weekend when in contention this season.

Top 10 Finisher: Keegan Bradley

Best Available odds:

As the week wears on, I expect the top veterans to separate themselves on this challenging venue, and an elite total driver like Keegan Bradley is well-positioned to generate the number of birdie chances needed to make a charge on moving day. Bradley ranked top-10 in Total Driving leading into this week, gaining in both Driving Distance and Driving Accuracy in five of his last six starts. His overall form has not been far off of late either, finishing top-20 in three of his last five starts.

Keegan sits T15 heading into the weekend, just one stroke off the top-10 pace. He went from top-10 in SG: OTT in the opening round to bottom-20 in the same category in round 2. Assuming his driver returns to being the strength of his game the rest of the way, Keegan has plenty of room to rise up this leaderboard.

Best of luck with your Charles Schwab Challenge DFS lineups and bets!
