Bruno Fernandes 2026 World Cup Odds & Analysis
Golden Boot Odds:
Most Assists Odds:
Bruno Fernandes enters the 2026 World Cup as the top midfielder on our list after a record-breaking season at Manchester United. Portugal has a strong case for bringing the best midfield to the tournament, with Fernandes headlining the trio for manager Roberto Martinez.
The 31-year-old is set to feature in his third World Cup this summer after an impressive showing in 2022, where he led the team with five goal contributions before Portugal was eliminated by Morocco in the quarterfinals. He also played a pivotal role in limited minutes during Portugal’s World Cup qualifiers, scoring three goals in under 400 minutes for his country.
Fernandes arrives at the 2026 World Cup having broken the Premier League record for assists in a season with 21 in 35 games. The Portuguese international also scored nine goals for Manchester United and is +350 to finish as Portugal’s top scorer behind Cristiano Ronaldo.
Fernandes will be a serious contender for the Golden Ball should Portugal make a deep run. His side enters the tournament with the sixth-lowest odds to lift the trophy at +900. Fernandes has the ninth-lowest odds to win Player of the Tournament at +1750 and is a long shot to win the Golden Boot at +6000.
Lionel Messi 2026 World Cup Odds & Analysis
Golden Boot Odds:
Most Assists Odds:
Despite his age, Lionel Messi still enters the 2026 World Cup — his sixth — as one of the world’s top attacking midfielders. The Argentine was instrumental in leading his country to its third world title in 2022 and will play a major role in its title defense this summer.
At 38 years old, Messi continues to perform at a high level for Inter Miami in MLS. He leads the league with 19 goal contributions in just 14 matches this season, and finished 2025 with 43 goals and 25 assists in 49 matches, winning his second MLS MVP in three seasons.
The Argentina legend will look to carry that form into what is expected to be his final World Cup. Messi already holds the records for most World Cup appearances and most goal contributions in tournament history with 21. He will surely add to both marks as Argentina (+700) looks to lift the trophy in back-to-back tournaments.
Argentina’s all-time top scorer opens as the favorite to lead the team in goals this summer at +100. He has the third-lowest odds to win his third Golden Ball at +900, having previously won the award in 2014 and 2022. One of the few individual honors Messi has yet to claim is the Golden Boot. The 38-year-old is +1300 to win it this year, having taken home the Silver Boot in 2022.
Enzo Fernandez 2026 World Cup Odds & Analysis
Golden Boot Odds:
Most Assists Odds:
Enzo Fernández has developed into one of Europe’s top midfielders since we last saw him on the international stage. The then 21-year-old won the Young Player of the Tournament as a key member of Argentina’s 2022 World Cup-winning squad before making the move to the Premier League, where he has grown into one of the league’s best players over the past four seasons.
Fernández is now expected to take on an even bigger role for manager Lionel Scaloni heading into his second World Cup. The Chelsea star scored a career-high 16 goals with 10 assists across all competitions in 2025-26 and has developed his goal-scoring considerably in recent seasons, making him a dark-horse candidate to lead Argentina in goals this tournament.
He enters the competition with the fifth-lowest odds to lead his country in scoring at +900. Fernández scored just one goal during the 2022 World Cup and has six in 40 appearances for Argentina overall. Oddsmakers aren’t overly confident in his goal-scoring at this level, placing him at +25000 to win the Golden Boot.
They do, however, give him a much better chance of winning the Golden Ball at +5000. Regardless of individual hardware, Fernández will once again be one of Scaloni’s most important pieces as Argentina attempts to win its fourth World Cup title.
Rodri 2026 World Cup Odds & Analysis
Golden Boot Odds:
Most Assists Odds:
The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner has quietly faded from the conversation after back-to-back injury-riddled seasons. Rodri has played just 46 games for club and country since winning the award two years ago, dealing with a torn ACL as well as hamstring and groin issues over that span.
Prior to his injury troubles, Rodri was widely considered not only the best midfielder in the world but arguably the best player overall, largely on the strength of his contributions during Manchester City’s treble-winning season. He put together a solid run of games for City toward the end of this season and will enter his second World Cup with some momentum.
Playing primarily as a defensive midfielder, Rodri is not available in most books to win the Golden Boot. He enters at +5000 to finish as Spain’s top scorer, having scored just four goals in 61 appearances for his country. His best shot at individual hardware, according to oddsmakers, is the
Golden Ball, where he sits at +3000 — seventh-lowest among Spanish players.
Books clearly aren’t backing Rodri for personal trophies this summer. Even so, World Cup co-favorites Spain (+400) will lean heavily on him as they look to win a second World Cup title. Rodri led the team in tackles per game during Spain’s Euro 2024-winning run and will be just as important here.
Vitinha 2026 World Cup Odds & Analysis
Golden Boot Odds: n/a
Most Assists Odds:
Vitinha has established himself as one of the world’s best all-around midfielders over the past couple of seasons. The Portuguese international played a pivotal role in PSG’s back-to-back Champions League-winning campaigns and will now suit up for his second World Cup alongside PSG teammate Joao Neves and Manchester United’s Fernandes, forming one of the strongest midfield trios in the tournament.
PSG’s star midfielder has been a workhorse over the past two seasons, appearing in 132 matches for club and country. While his goal-scoring numbers won’t jump off the page, Vitinha has built a reputation as one of the best distributors and game managers in the world. The 26-year-old led both Ligue 1 and the Champions League in passes attempted, completing over 90% of them in both competitions.
Despite the heavy workload, Vitinha is expected to start for manager Martinez based on his form heading into the tournament. He has made 37 appearances for Portugal since debuting in 2022, primarily as a reserve, contributing just 4 assists and no goals.
With a significant increase in playing time on the horizon, oddsmakers have him at +2000 to lead Portugal in scoring. Similar to Rodri, books aren’t offering odds on Vitinha to win the Golden Boot. He ranks within the top 20 in Golden Ball odds at +2500. His lack of goal contributions will likely keep him from winning individual hardware, but there’s no denying the impact he has had in making PSG the best club in the world — and he can have the same effect for Portugal this summer.
Jude Bellingham 2026 World Cup Odds & Analysis
Golden Boot Odds:
Most Assists Odds:
Jude Bellingham lands just outside our top five after an injury-riddled season at Real Madrid. The English attacking midfielder has proven versatile for the Spanish giants and will surely be deployed in different roles by manager Thomas Tuchel at his second World Cup.
Bellingham played under 2,800 minutes for Real Madrid this season, hampered by lingering hamstring and shoulder issues. He finished with just nine goals and five assists — his lowest goal contribution tally since joining the club in 2023.
Even so, Bellingham remains one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe at his age. He debuted for England at just 17 and started all five World Cup games in 2022 at 19, contributing one goal and one assist. He has six goals in 46 appearances for his country overall.
Bellingham is a long shot to lead the tournament in scoring at +10000 to win the Golden Boot. He enters tied with Bukayo Saka for the second-lowest odds to lead England in goals at +600, with Harry Kane the heavy favorite. He also lands in the top ten for Golden Ball odds at +2000 heading into the tournament.
Moises Caicedo 2026 World Cup Odds & Analysis
Golden Boot Odds: n/a
Most Assists Odds:
Chelsea were widely criticized for paying a then-British record £115 million to Brighton for defensive midfielder Moises Caicedo in 2023. Despite the club’s inconsistencies in the seasons since, Caicedo has justified the fee and established himself as arguably the world’s best defensive midfielder.
The Ecuadorian will feature in his second World Cup this summer after starting all three group stage games for his country in 2022 at just 20 years old. He has already earned 60 caps for Ecuador, scoring three goals, including a crucial strike against Senegal in the previous tournament.
As a defensive specialist, Caicedo isn’t listed by sportsbooks for the Golden Boot or as a candidate to lead his country in scoring. He is +15000 to win the Golden Ball with Ecuador expected to be a dark horse in this tournament.
Ecuador enters at +7500 to win the competition, but is expected to at least match their best-ever run to the Round of 16 in 2006. Beccacece’s squad is +120 to reach the last 16 and -1200 to advance from Group E. Caicedo’s presence in the midfield will be crucial should Ecuador make a deep run.
Declan Rice 2026 World Cup Odds & Analysis
Golden Boot Odds:
Most Assists Odds:
Declan Rice is the second English midfielder on our list after a Premier League-winning season with Arsenal. The 27-year-old was a regular starter in 2022 and will again play a significant role for Tuchel and the Three Lions this summer.
Rice built his reputation as a young player primarily as a defensive midfielder, but has become more versatile under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal and could be used in several midfield roles under Tuchel. He has earned 72 caps for England since switching his international allegiance from Ireland in 2019.
Rice contributed five goal contributions during England’s World Cup qualifiers over the past two years. He is +4000 to lead his country in goals this summer and +2500 to win the Golden Boot, which should not be out of the question if England makes a deep run or goes all the way.
England has the third-lowest odds to win the tournament at +575. Should the Three Lions perform as expected, Rice would be a big reason why. He has proven to be a key component of winning teams over the past few seasons and figures to have the same impact for his country.
Pedri 2026 World Cup Odds & Analysis
Golden Boot Odds:
Most Assists Odds:
Pedri is one of the best young midfielders in the world heading into his second World Cup at just 23 years old. He started all four games and was one of Spain’s top performers in 2022 at just 19, and after four strong seasons at Barcelona, he looks ready for a breakout tournament.
The Barcelona star has mastered his role in the center of the pitch before even entering his physical prime, controlling the tempo for club and country on both sides of the ball. Despite often playing deep in midfield, Pedri has accumulated 28 goal contributions for Barcelona over the past two seasons combined.
He has already made 40 appearances for Spain, scoring five goals. Pedri is not listed as a Golden Boot contender but is +3000 to lead Spain in scoring at the 2026 World Cup. Any goal contributions from the midfielder would be his first in tournament play.
Like Rice and Vitinha, Pedri is +2500 to win the Golden Ball — a real possibility should Spain win the World Cup. His influence was evident in 2022, and after four years of continued growth, the Spanish midfielder looks poised for a big summer.
Joao Neves 2026 World Cup Odds & Analysis
Golden Boot Odds: n/a
Most Assists Odds:
Neves rounds out our top ten midfielders, joining Vitinha and Fernandes to give Portugal three representatives on the list. The Neves-Vitinha partnership has been central to PSG’s success over the past two seasons, and Neves will now attend his first World Cup as a surefire starter at just 21 years old.
The young star started four World Cup qualifiers for Martinez, scoring a hat trick during Portugal’s 9-1 victory over Armenia last November. Like Vitinha, Neves has shouldered a heavy workload over the past two seasons due to PSG’s deep runs in Europe, contributing 28 goal contributions in 87 appearances across the last two campaigns.
Neves will operate as a pseudo-defensive midfielder for Portugal, with Fernandes and Vitinha taking up more of the ball in possession. His versatility to get into dangerous areas off the ball and cover ground defensively makes him the ideal fit for this trio.
The Portuguese international is a dark horse to win Young Player of the Tournament at +2500. He is +10000 to win the Golden Ball and +2500 to lead Portugal in goals in his first World Cup. Despite his age, expect Neves to make his presence felt as one of Portugal’s three-headed midfield.
