Egypt 2026 World Cup Team Preview, Betting Odds, Predictions & Best Bets

Egypt easily qualified for the 2026 World Cup after topping their CAF Qualifying Group undefeated. They’ve never won a World Cup tournament fixture but we’d expect that to change in 2026.

The Pharaohs reached the Semi Finals of AFCON 2025, beaten on penalties in the Third Place Playoff by Nigeria. That defeat, along with the Semi Final defeat to Senegal, are the only losses in Egypt’s last ten games leading up to the start of World Cup 2026.

Egypt 2026 World Cup Betting Odds

  • To Win World Cup:
  • To Reach Final:
  • To Reach Semifinal:
  • To Reach Quarterfinal:
  • To Win Group G:
  • To Advance From Group:
  • Group: Group G
  • FIFA Rank: 29

Egypt are considered rank outsiders to win the 2026 World Cup. Most sportsbooks have priced them at around +30000 to become the first African side to lift the World Cup trophy.

Odds are also incredibly long for Egypt to reach the Final and Semi Final. They’re priced at +8000 to make the Final with odds of +3000 available for Egypt to make the Semi Final stage. I agree with the odds here, while Egypt possess some top quality players in Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush in particular, it’s going to be very difficult for the Pharaohs to reach the latter stages of the tournament.

Egypt 2026 World Cup Best Bet

While I don’t expect Egypt to make it to the World Cup later stages, they should qualify from their Group. Group G also features Belgium, who we expect to top the Group, along with Iran and New Zealand. Egypt should have enough to qualify as group runners-up.

If they do, they’re likely to face Paraguay in the Round of 32. This is a winnable game for Egypt and odds of +225 for Hossam Hassan’s side to reach the round of 16 are attractive indeed.

However, we like the look of the Egypt Total Team Goals market. Odds of +125 are available for Egypt to score over 5.5 goals throughout their World Cup campaign. For us, they’ll play at least five matches (three Group games, the Round of 32 game and Round of 16 fixture). Egypt to score an average of just over a goal a game, with Iran and New Zealand their opponents in two of those games? For me, Salah, Marmoush & co will score enough for this bet to win.

Egypt Best Bet: Egypt Total Team Goals O5.5 (+125)

Egypt 2026 World Cup Players to Watch

Mo Salah: It will come as no surprise that Salah tops our list of players to watch for Egypt. His country’s star man, if Egypt are to progress to the Knockout Stages it will be Salah who gets them there. The Liverpool man is priced at +5000 to finish as Top Goalscorer, which is understandable really as Egypt aren’t expected to play many games. However, he remains as Egypt’s man most likely to.

Omar Marmoush: Helping Salah will be Marmoush. The forward hasn’t enjoyed a particularly productive season at his club Manchester City, suffering with a lack of game time, but his pace, power and clinical finishing will be a problem to his Egypt’s opponents.

Hamdy Fathi: Egypt will also rely on the experience of midfielder Fathi. A mainstay in this Egypt side, Fathi’s dominance in the middle of the park will be key to his nation’s success.

Egypt World Cup History

This is just the fourth World Cup tournament Egypt have qualified for. They failed to qualify in 2022. Egypt did reach the 2018 Finals, but after losing all three Group games they failed to make the Knockout Rounds.

In fact, Egypt have never won a Group game in their three previous attempts. Aside from 2018, Egypt also participated in the 1934 and 1990 World Cup competitions.
