How Will Kevin Durant Betting Odds Unfold?

Per the odds table above, Miami and Houston are +250 co-favorites to acquire the 15-time NBA All-Star. By converting these betting odds to implied probability, they have a 28.6% chance of trading for Durant. Last week, these teams were priced as high as +1000, equivalent to a 9.1% implied probability.

Sportsbooks don’t tend to accept large wagers on these markets, so it wouldn’t take much to move Durant’s next-team betting odds. Well-known media voices usually cause these moves.

Ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, Durant is inked to an expiring contract worth $54.7 million. While ESPN‘s Shams Charania noted that Durant has expressed interest in the Heat, Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs, the Suns have reportedly heard from six to eight teams and will vie to make the best trade for the organization. This decision may send Durant to a destination outside of his approved list, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, a franchise Durant has “no desire” to suit up for.

Following a trade, Durant could sign a two-year contract extension worth upwards of $122 million. If he waits to sign a deal six months after a trade is completed, he’s eligible to sign a two-year extension for up to $124 million.

However, the league’s free agency market is set for a drastic shift. Cap space will increase from just the Brooklyn Nets this offseason to half of the NBA. As a result, Durant could opt to pause contract negotiations, no matter where he winds up, and reenter the open market next July.

Even at 36 years old, Durant averaged 26.6 points per game and shot 43.0% from behind the arc last season. Houston is viewed as a contender among 2026 NBA title odds, priced at +1600 at Caesars Sportsbook. While the Heat are listed at +6000, they would certainly receive a bump if they acquire Durant’s services.

Possible Heat Trade Package For Durant

  • Heat: Kevin Durant
  • Suns: Andrew Wiggins, Duncan Robinson, No. 20 pick in 2025 NBA Draft, future first-rounder

After moving on from Jimmy Butler, team president Pat Riley is hungry for another star. With Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo in the fold, Durant could take this team to new heights under Erik Spoelstra, one of the league’s premier coaches. The Suns may ask for budding center Kel’el Ware, but Miami has enough assets to swing a deal without him if it includes a pair of first-round selections.

Possible Rockets Trade Package For Durant

  • Rockets: Kevin Durant
  • Suns: Jalen Green, Jabari Smith, No. 10 pick in 2025 NBA Draft

Despite falling to the Warriors in the first round of the NBA playoffs, Houston earned the No. 2 seed with 52 wins under its belt. Durant’s high-level scoring prowess would more than replace Jalen Green’s role. The 22-year-old Smith oozes with upside, so shipping him off isn’t as easy as it seems. Nevertheless, the Rockets would have a championship-level ceiling if they reel in Durant.

Possible Spurs Trade Package For Durant

  • Spurs: Kevin Durant
  • Suns: Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, No. 14 pick and No. 38 pick in 2025 NBA Draft, future first-rounder

Thanks to Stephon Castle’s stellar rookie of the year campaign and the acquisition of De’Aaron Fox, Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson’s roles are expendable. This trade would gift the Suns two youthful talents and another first-round pick in this year’s draft. BYU product Egor Demin is an alluring fit if Phoenix chooses this path, exhibiting a dynamic playmaking skillset and potential shooting upside.
