Spain 2026 World Cup Team Preview, Betting Odds, Predictions & Best Bets

Up until recently, Spain was the clear favorite to win the 2026 World Cup. Most sportsbooks have now priced France at similar odds to win the tournament outright, but Spain still remains the choice of many to win their second World Cup title.

This Spain squad is packed full of talent. The reigning European Champions have some of the world’s most exciting youngsters in their ranks, as well as multi-title winning, experienced heads. While all eyes will be on Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal, this Spain side possesses a number of players who will cause problems for any opponents they face.

Spain 2026 World Cup Betting Odds

  • To Win World Cup:
  • To Reach Final:
  • To Reach Semifinal:
  • To Reach Quarterfinal:
  • To Win Group H:
  • To Advance From Group:
  • Group: Group H
  • FIFA Rank: 2

Most sportsbooks have Spain as joint favorite to win the 2026 World Cup, along with France. It’s easy to see why this Spain squad is highly regarded. They’re the current European Champions and they reached the Nations League Final. In fact, Spain’s only defeat since March 2024 came in that Nations League Final where they were defeated by Portugal on penalties.

Spain are priced at around +500 to win the 2026 World Cup. We’d expect this Spain team to breeze through the Group Stage and reach the latter stages of the tournament. Most sportsbooks have priced Spain at around +220 to reach the Final, with odds of +100 to reach the Semi Final stage.

One of the reasons why Spain are priced as joint favorites is their potential path to the World Cup Final. If they top Group H, which in all honesty they should, the route to the Semi Final is reasonably straightforward. However, they could face England or France in the Semi Final, which is likely to be the first real tough test Spain will encounter. In addition, there are injury concerns surrounding 2025 Ballon d’Or winner Rodri. A fully fit Rodri will be hugely influential. If the Manchester City man is missing, Spain might struggle against the top teams.

Spain 2026 World Cup Best Bet

While I can see why Spain are considered joint favorites, for me France is the team to beat in the 2026 World Cup. If the two come up against each other, I’d expect France to come out on top. Therefore, my best bet is not Spain to win the World Cup. I think they’ll fall just short.

Spain’s recent World Cup record isn’t that impressive either. In 2022 and 2018, they were knocked out at the Round of 16 stage. This followed a disastrous 2014 tournament where Spain failed to get out of the Group – a poor return for a side who won the 2010 edition.

So, where does the betting value lie? While the odds aren’t particularly attractive, I think Spain will reach the Semi Final stage without any real problems. Winning it might be a step too far, but a Semi Final appearance is likely.

Spain Best Bet: Spain to Reach the Semifinals

Spain 2026 World Cup Players to Watch

Lamine Yamal: One of the most exciting talents in world soccer right now, all eyes will be on Yamal. The Barcelona player has enjoyed a fantastic season for his club, scoring 24 goals and assisting 18 times in 45 club matches (correct at the time of writing). There are injury concerns, though, but he should be fit by the start of the tournament. Yamal will be one of the players who will light up the 2026 World Cup, I can’t wait to see him in World Cup action for the first time. Yamal is second favorite to win the Player of the Tournament award, priced at around +800 with most sportsbooks.

Rodri: Another player who has struggled with injury this season is Rodri. In fact, Rodri has struggled for full fitness for the past couple of seasons. However, a fully fit Rodri will be absolutely key to Spain’s potential success. If Rodri plays well, Spain plays well and getting him match fit will be a priority for Luis de la Fuente.

Pedri: Pedri has established himself as one of the best midfielders in world football right now. One of Spain’s very few bright sparks in 2022, this could be a fantastic tournament for the Barcelona star.

Spain World Cup History

Spain’s sole World Cup title came in 2010. Previous to this success, Spain had only reached the last four once, back in 1950. Their World Cup form since 2010 has been less than impressive. Spain failed to get out of the Group in 2014 and were beaten at the Round of 16 stage in 2018 and 2022 by Russia and Morocco respectively.

They enter the 2026 edition in fantastic form, though. Spain have lost just once in their last 28 fixtures, an excellent record.
