Best Bet: YRFI (+110) at bet365

Score Prediction: Brewers 5, Rays 3

The Pick: Brewers 5, Rays 3

We’ll continue taking a chance with the YRFI based on betting statistics from both clubs in recent games, and plus-money.

Game Betting Analysis

The data is pointing to the Over. It has hit in three of four meetings with Tampa Bay, while hitting in four of five games for Milwaukee overall. Games 1 and 2 saw the YRFI hit, our best bets at plus-value, but that piece of data was backed specifically for Milwaukee at home. However, Milwaukee has hit the YRFI in four of five games going back to the Los Angeles series. Tampa Bay, also, has seen the YRFI hit in four of five games going back to the Cleveland series. We’ll keep it rolling with the plus-value and data to back the YRFI once more. Milwaukee has won four straight games against Tampa Bay, 24 of 28 games overall and covered the run line in six straight road games. It’s tough to go against the Brew Crew if looking outside the YRFI market, or again, the Over seems supported as well.

Brewers vs. Rays Odds (Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under)

Deciding Factor: Freddy Peralta’s Tropicana Takeover vs. Robert Gasser’s Thin Margi

Tampa Bay is down 0-2 and needs a response, and the Rays are turning to the one pitcher who has made that kind of ask routine all autumn. Freddy Peralta spent eight seasons in Milwaukee before a January trade sent him to the Mets and an August deadline deal flipped him to Tampa Bay, and the version the Rays received barely resembles the one that posted a 5-9 record and 4.99 ERA in 22 starts with New York. The Rays rebuilt him mechanically — moving him back to pitching from the stretch, shifting him to the third-base side of the rubber, widening his stance, and raising his arm slot — while leaning him harder on his changeup, and the results have been immediate: a 3.55 ERA over 10 regular-season starts in Tampa Bay, a 0.96 ERA across five September outings, and a fastball that touched 99 mph as recently as this week. The form has only sharpened in October, with a 1.08 ERA across four postseason appearances, ALCS MVP honors after allowing one run in 12 innings against Cleveland, and a ridiculous 0.89 ERA over his last 10 outings dating back to the regular season. He’s also historically been nearly unhittable at the building he’ll pitch in Monday, carrying a 1.45 ERA and 31 strikeouts across 37⅓ innings in seven career starts at Tropicana Field, which is exactly the kind of home-sanctuary number the Rays need against a Brewers lineup that’s riding high after two straight comeback wins.

The Brewers, meanwhile, are countering with a rookie whose season has been a story of two completely different pitchers. Robert Gasser, who missed over a year recovering from a UCL injury that required season-ending surgery in June 2024, scuffled to a 3-5 record and 3.53 ERA through the season’s first half before locking in down the stretch — a 2-0 mark and 1.51 ERA across eight appearances since August 26 that’s carried into October, where he’s allowed just one run over nine innings in his first two playoff starts. The concern is length: Milwaukee is likely to lean on him for only four or five innings before turning to a bullpen that has been the engine of this run, headlined by Aaron Ashby’s 15⅔-inning scoreless postseason streak — one out shy of Andrew Miller’s 2016 standard — and a relief corps carrying a 1.24 ERA through 10 playoff games. The soft spot is what happens before the handoff; Tampa Bay’s right-handed bats slugged .442 against Gasser this season, which hands Junior Caminero and Yandy Díaz a real window early, and the Rays’ MLB-low 20.7% team whiff rate works against a Milwaukee bullpen that thrives on swings and misses rather than induced contact. If Gasser can get through the Caminero-Díaz turn of the order clean and hand a lead to Ashby and company, Milwaukee is built to make this 3-0 and functionally over; if Peralta’s Tropicana dominance holds and Tampa Bay’s righties cash in on Gasser early, the Rays have a real path to sending this series back to Milwaukee with some life.
