Gavin Williams – CLE/SP ($8,700)

Gavin Williams took his game to the next level this season, putting up 3.76 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP with 248 strikeouts in 184.1 innings. He was an innings-eater with a high strikeout upside.

He has allowed two earned runs in each of his last two outings vs. the White Sox. This is a must-win game for the Guardians, and I expect Gavin to answer the call.

Freddy Peralta – TB/SP ($6,500)

Instead of paying up for Cam Schlittler, I’ll save some money with Freddy Peralta, allowing me to fit in some more expensive bats. Peralta comes into this game in top form, allowing one earned run or fewer in six consecutive outings.

He likely won’t go more than five innings in this one, so it’s not a big deal to include some Yankee hitters while still firing up Peralta.

Austin Wells – NYY/C ($2,100)

Here we have a punt play at catcher in order to save salary. Austin Wells has hit safely in all three playoff games so far, including two runs and four RBI.

He’s got some pop as well, making him worth a look at his cheap cost. This allows me to include his teammate below.

Ben Rice – NYY/1B ($5,700)

By playing Wells at catcher, I can spend more money on Ben Rice, who had a spectacular season for the Yankees, homering 41 times with a .534 slugging percentage.

We’ve seen the kind of upside that Rice has when he homered twice with six RBI in the blowout win over the Red Sox in the AL Wild Card series. Given that Peralta sometimes has a home run problem, Rice is worth a look here.

Travis Bazzana – CLE/2B ($3,700)

Travis Bazzana had a rock-solid rookie season, putting up a 110 wRC+ with 15 home runs and 19 stolen bases. He’s a fixture in the heart of the Guardians’ order, ranging from the No. 3 to No. 5 hole.

Given that favorable spot for counting stats, Bazzana makes a lot of sense at a reasonable price as we build out our Guardians stack. It’s a good spot against Anthony Kay, who had a 4.44 ERA in 158 innings this year.

Jose Ramirez – CLE/3B ($5,000)

Jose Ramirez played well below career norms this year, slashing .235/.320/.368 with 12 home runs and 37 stolen bases in 544 plate appearances. However, he was heating up at the end of the year, putting up five two-hit games in his last nine. We saw him go 0-for-3 in Game 1, but I like the spot vs. Kay.

Ramirez has traditionally been much better against lefties. This season, he had a 128 wRC+ against them (76 wRC+ vs. righties).

George Lombard Jr. – NYY/SS ($2,700)

We’re going with another Yankee to save salary here. It’s our favorite punt play of the playoffs, George Lombard Jr. He’s become a fixture in this article.

He came into the playoffs homering four times in his last eight games. He’s also gone 4-for-11 with three runs and one RBI in the playoffs so far.

Jo Adell – CLE/OF ($3,500)

We all know the type of power upside that Jo Adell has. Just think about how he homered 37 times back in 2025. This year wasn’t nearly as good, but he still homered 23 times.

The Guardians need Adell’s power to wake up a dormant offense. Facing Kay, who has a 1.2 HR/9 on the season, we’ll take a shot on Adell going yard at a reasonable cost, especially since he hits in the heart of the Guardians’ order.

Chandler Simpson – TB/OF ($4,100)

Chandler Simpson is a speed demon who stole 46 bases in 612 plate appearances this season. Facing the AL Cy Young favorite in Cam Schlittler, where baserunners will be hard to come by, perhaps the Rays will try to get aggressive on the base paths to make something happen.

That’s where Simpson can come in. Don’t be surprised if he runs wild if he can somehow get on base, making him worth a look at this price.

Angel Martinez – CLE/OF ($3,100)

Angel Martinez has had some nice moments this season, putting up a 108 wRC+ with 18 home runs and 11 stolen bases in 416 plate appearances.

Martinez was much better against lefties this year, putting up a 129 wRC+. This makes him an appealing hitter against a southpaw like Anthony Kay.
