On the Friday slate, we’ve got Game 1 of the World Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Milwaukee Brewers. This has the look of a pitcher’s duel between Drew Rasmussen and Jacob Misiorowski.

👑 Jacob Misiorowski – MIL/SP/MVP ($19,500)
Paying up for the best pitcher in baseball feels like the move for Game 1. Jacob Misiorowski had a spectacular season for the Brewers, putting up a 1.80 ERA and a 0.80 WHIP with 252 strikeouts and 44 walks in 174.2 innings. Those are video game numbers. But so far, he hasn’t been himself in the playoffs. In two outings, he’s combined for 8.1 innings, allowing three earned runs on nine hits with four walks and 11 strikeouts.
It feels like he’s been feeling the effects of a long season. After all, the Brewers had limited his innings in September. But I think Miz will get on track for this game. It will be 12 days since his previous start once Game 1 gets underway. That kind of break is exactly what he needs: much-needed rest to rejuvenate him from fatigue. To that end, I can see a ceiling game from Miz here. Something like six innings with 11 strikeouts. That’s perfect for the MVP for my lineup.
Christian Yelich – MIL/UTIL ($6,800)
Christian Yelich is a veteran with a strong track record coming off a disappointing season. He slashed .235/.315/.378 with 12 home runs and 11 stolen bases in 118 games. However, he’s had some good moments in the playoffs so far. He’s hitting .292 with three runs, three RBI, and two steals. The stolen base upside is what catches my eye here. With runs likely hard to come by, having a player who can steal a base may be exactly what you need on this slate.
This is Yelich’s first time in the World Series. The former NL MVP has the ability to come through in the big moments here. Since we spent up at Miz, we need to save a bit of salary here, so Yelich makes a lot of sense.
Chandler Simpson – TB/UTIL ($6,600)
Sticking with my theme of targeting speed in a low-scoring matchup, Chandler Simpson is the perfect fit. We saw him hit .306 with 46 steals in 151 games this season. There’s no power here, but that means less when it’s unlikely that anyone hits a homer in this pitcher’s duel.
If Simpson can get on base, there’s a good chance that he’ll swipe a bag. He has three steals in the playoffs so far, so we’ll take a shot on him here.
Garrett Mitchell – MIL/UTIL ($6,400)
Garrett Mitchell has always had upside, but he’s just dealt with injuries throughout his career. But this year, he was able to stay healthy, slashing .262/.354/.416 with 11 home runs and 14 stolen bases in 145 games.
He’s really stepped up throughout the playoffs, homering in both Games 3 and 4 in the NLCS sweep over the Dodgers. As with other hitters on this list, Mitchell has the ability to make things happen on the basepaths, making him an ideal fit for this build.
Victor Mesa Jr. – TB/UTIL ($6,200)
Victor Mesa only played in 79 games during the regular season, but he made a major impact, slashing .260/.327/.498 with 14 home runs and nine stolen bases in 235 at-bats. That’s the kind of power-speed profile that you want to target here, especially at the reasonable price at $6,200.
Mesa only has one homer and two steals during the postseason, but his ability to provide speed at 6,200 is perfect because of how much we spent on Miz at captain.
Sal Frelick – MIL/UTIL ($3,400)
We’re going to leave money on the table by going extra cheap with our last pick. By doing that, you can differentiate your lineup from the field, since most users like to pay the full $50,000 in a single-game slate.
Sal Frelick makes a lot of sense because he fits with our theme of speed (2 SB in last three games). He played in Games 3 and 4 for the Brewers in the NLCS, so there’s a good chance he suits up for this one. If not, you can pivot to Joey Ortiz.
