After a pair of primetime showdowns to whet the football appetite, the NFL is back in full force Sunday with the first multi-game slate of the season. There are 24 teams in action between the early- and late window games, affording us an expansive player pool from which to hunt for profitable prop betting opportunities.

Best NFL Week 1 Player Props

Jahmyr Gibbs (Lions vs. Saints) Over Rushing + Receiving Yards
Expectations for Gibbs are even higher than usual heading into the 2026 season, after the Lions allowed David Montgomery to depart in free agency. Over the first three seasons of his career, Gibbs shared the backfield with D-Mont and still managed to average 102.6 rushing + receiving yards per game, including 110.8 per contest in the last two regular seasons. Detroit did ink Isiah Pacheco to serve as Gibbs’ primary backup, but the former Chief opens the season on injured reserve due to a back issue.
Consequently, Sione Vaki, who has just seven career carries, and former UFL standout Jacob Saylors represent Gibbs’ competition for running back touches in Week 1. After the Lions made a lucrative $76 million investment in Gibbs this offseason via a three-year extension, it’s a safe proposition to assume he’ll be put to work plenty right out of gate. The matchup against a Saints defense that will be without Cameron Jordan (hamstring) and that let veteran run-stopper Demario Davis walk this offseason sets up well for Gibbs on the fast track of his Ford Field home turf, particularly if he exceeds the 20-carry threshold in a game the Lions are a touchdown favorite for.

Saquon Barkley (Eagles vs. Commanders) Over Rushing Yards
Barkley is another superstar back primed for Week 1 success on his home field. The Eagles will roll out a new-look offense under first-year offensive coordinator and former NFL QB Sean Mannion. Word out of Philadelphia is that Jalen Hurts will be under center much more often this season, and with a disgruntled A.J. Brown having been traded to the Patriots this offseason, he’ll be working with a less imposing receiver corps than in recent years. The cumulative impact of those factors should help lead to heavy reliance on Barkley once again, and a Week 1 matchup against a questionable Commanders defense sets the stage for what could be a strong start to the season.
Barkley was nowhere near as dynamic last season as during his 2024 Eagles debut campaign, but the 2018 first-round pick still rushed for 1,140 yards (71.3 yards per game) across 16 games in an increasingly stale offense. Barkley was rested throughout the preseason and should therefore be raring to go against a division rival he lit up for 132 yards on 21 carries in his one meeting with last season, after also having gone for 146 and 150 yards versus Washington in a pair of 2024 encounters.
Philly still boasts a formidable offensive line, while the Commanders chose not to re-sign prolific tackler Bobby Wagner this offseason and head into Week 1 with a trio of key questionable tags (NT Daron Payne, SLB K’Lavon Chaisson, WLB Odafe Oweh) and one suspension-related absence (Dorance Armstrong) on the front seven.

Malik Willis (Dolphins vs. Raiders) Over Passing Yards
Willis begins his long-awaited stint as a full-time starter in less than ideal circumstances, as the rebuilt Dolphins have been written off by prognosticators before the season even begins. The bleak outlook isn’t exactly unfounded, as Willis’ skill-position weaponry outside of De’Von Achane is replete with uncertainty and inexperience. The fifth-year signal-caller will rely on Malik Washington and rookie third-round pick Caleb Douglas as his top two wide receivers, while Greg Dulcich will aim to carry over some of his late-season momentum from 2025 as the starting tight end.
Nevertheless, this is a very low yardage figure for an NFL quarterback under any circumstance and Willis had a solid training camp by all accounts, one where he was able to build some rapport with his new group of targets. Willis was able to garner some solid experience as Jordan Love’s backup the last two seasons in Green Bay, and he flashed enough upside to warrant Miami targeting him for its starting role this offseason.
The opposing Raiders are sporting a somewhat makeshift secondary to open the season that includes a rookie second-round pick Treydan Stukes at free safety and a coverage liability in Jeremy Chinn at strong safety, so Willis could certainly have some opportunities to pile up yardage via chunk plays. Achane’s elite receiving and run-after-catch skills could also certainly help his QB’s cause, and the Raiders did allow 214.3 passing yards per game to QBs last season with more experienced personnel in the defensive backfield.
