Later in the night, we back a pair of aggressive skaters who are in a favorable position to pressure the net while surrounded by two Hart Trophy contenders. If you have not already, check out our NHL betting trends page for the latest daily game odds, insight, and data.
Ben Kindel (Penguins vs. Capitals) Goal Odds
With Ben Kindel leading the Pittsburgh Penguins third line, his aggression has been rewarded, kicking off his 2026-27 campaign with a pair of Goals while averaging 0.39 Expected Goals per game.
Heading into Wednesday night’s contest against the Washington Capitals, Kindel will have a great opportunity to build on his momentum by taking advantage of a back line who ranks 30th in Expected Goals Against in All Situations. Even with Logan Thompson playing at a high level, the production Kindel receives from Bryan Rust will help pull the Capitals goalie out to the side of the net, widening the width of his shooting lanes in front of the crease.
In the Power Play, Kindel takes a back seat to Sidney Crosby, allowing him to pick apart the gaps on the outside to set up a one timer or rebound opportunity. Until oddsmakers catch up on his usage, Kindel is an auto bet every time the Penguins take the ice.
Artturi Lehkonen (Avalanche vs. Jets) Goal Odds
While Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Necas hog the spotlight, Artturi Lehkonen has been able to keep pace with his linemates, generating 0.42 Expected Goals and 2.50 Shots on Goal per game. Their combined production has made it near impossible to defend against, elevating the Colorado Avalanche to the top of the board in Expected Goals For.
With the Winnipeg Jets forced to shade their coverage towards the star duo, Lehkonen will be able to pressure the net at a higher rate, increasing his chances of scoring. When left unprotected, Stuart Skinner has been inconsistent in his efforts of protecting the Jets net, averaging nearly three Goals Against per game. Until Hellebuyck makes his return to the ice, the Jets will continue to play in highly volatile contests to the benefit of their opponent while Skinner is in net.
When in 5-on-4 Situations, Lehkonen leads the second unit, leading to a bump in his usage rate. Even if the Avs move Lehkonen to the first unit, he will find himself in the same position he is in when at full strength while skating alongside MacKinnon and Necas, keeping his workload intact.
Evan Bouchard (Oilers vs. Ducks) Goal Odds
Like Lehkonen, Evan Bouchard is also surrounded by a pair of productive scorers while operating behind Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl who are arguably the most lethal duo in the league. With the two stretching out opposing back lines, Bouchard is able to rifle off a high volume of shot attempts from the blue line, averaging 4.33 Shots on Goal per game
With Anaheim on deck, the quality of Bouchard’s Shots on Goal will improve while attacking a back line who struggles to defend their net per the Ducks bottom ten mark in Expected Goals Against From High Danger Shots. Especially with Lukas Dostal scrambling between the pipes while trying to match the Oilers output, creating larger gaps beside him for Bouchard to exploit.
Bouchard is also allowed to creep closer to the net in the Oilers first Power Play unit with no fear of getting burned in transition, making it easier to convert his shot attempts into Shots on Goal.
