PGA Tour action is back with some time-shifted viewing in store. The global swing of the Fall Series begins in Japan this week, as a limited field of 72 get set to tee it up at Yokohama Country Club for the Baycurrent Classic.

In our first look at Yokohama last year, Xander Schauffele over-powered the field to win as the pre-tournament favorite with a score of 19-under-par. If year one was any indication, this is a venue that has proven favorable for elite ball-strikers with plus distance and experience competing internationally.

Below, we’ll go through my final Baycurrent Classic bets. Click the odds anywhere in this article to place Baycurrent Classic wagers. For a full breakdown of the tournament and course, visit my Baycurrent Classic preview.

How I Built My Baycurrent Classic Betting

This event has not been kind to longshots in its short history, with some of the biggest names in the modern game – Tiger Woods, Hideki Matsuyama, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele – rising to the occasion in Japan. With that said, we’ve seen some surprises from players like Nico Echavarria, and some very close calls from other unheralded talents. With just one year of history at Yokohama Country Club, I’ve found myself hedging my exposure across a slightly wider list of players who share elite ball-striking, plus distance, and proven success overseas in common.

From a unit allocation standpoint, it’s back to business as usual for my weekly stake at the 2026 Baycurrent Classic.

  • Outrights – 3.5U in to pay 25U each
  • FRL – 0.5U in to pay out 10U+ each
  • Full Tournament Matchups – 1U in to pay out 2U
  • Props – 1.5U in to pay out 3U+ each

Baycurrent Classic Bets: Outrights (3.5 Units)

Hideki Matsuyama

My Bet: +2000

The argument could be made that there would be no Baycurrent Classic with Hideki Matsuyama. No Japanese golfer has accomplished more than Hideki, and the 2022 ZOZO Championship winner will get a hero’s welcome in his return to Japan.

He was a solid contributor at the Presidents Cup last we saw him, which continued a strong trend of form that includes seven top-20 finishes over his last eight starts. A commitment to accuracy off the tee has spelled the difference for Matsuyama throughout this run of hot form, which is a dangerous sight for the field considering his prowess form fairway to green. If Matsuyama continues to play consistently from the fairway, he is as dangerous as any player in the field this week.

Michael Thorbjornsen

My Bet: +3000

Thorbjornsen wasted no time acclimated to golf on the other side of the world, finishing 3rd in his Baycurrent Classic debut this time last year. He was one of many bombers to finish inside the top-10 in 2025, and that’s an advantage he’ll continue to hold over the field this week. Thorbjornsen ranks top-10 in the field in terms of Driving Distance and SG: OTT over the last 36 rounds.

Confidence should be sky-high for Thorbjornsen now, as he returns to a course he’s found success at while on the heels of his first career PGA Tour victory at the Rocket Classic three starts ago. The newly restored Detroit Golf Club should play very similarly to Yokohama, each rewarding elite ball-strikers with plus distance. Thorbjorsen and Schauffele happen to have each finished top-3 in their latest appearance at each venue.

Kurt Kitayama

My Bet: +3900

We’ve already seen two Japanese-Americans pay homage to their ancestors with a win at this event over the last three years. Could Kurt Kitayama be the next one to follow in the footsteps of Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa?

Kitayama has made it a point to play in Japan as often has he can, playing in each of the last four Baycurrent Classics. That familiarity with the travel adjustments needed has paid dividends, as he has finished 5th and T16 within the last three years. While last year did not go as planned for Kitayama here, he’ll enter this week in far improved form, as he ranks 7th in the field in SG: T2G over the last 36 rounds, and finished a career-best 31st in the season-long FedEx Cup Standings.

The 2025 leaderboard at Yokohama paints a very clear picture of what is needed to contend: Driving distance and trending ball-striking. Those are the two strengths of Kitayama’s game, as he’s displayed with wins at TPC Twin Cities and Bay Hill, two courses that place an emphasis on the same skill sets. In such a strong Fall Series field, I like the value on Kitayama’s odds, as he’s proven his ball-striking is strong enough to win anywhere.

Michael Brennan

My Bet: +3900

Michael Brennan’s recent and sudden turnaround on the greens reminds me of another Wake Forest alum, Cameron Young. Both young talents proved to be generational ball-strikers, in the early going of their careers, but were held back from realizing their full potential by a stagnant putter before finally breaking through on the greens. Brennan was one of the worst putters on the PGA Tour through his first 20 starts of the 2026 season, but now ranks 1st in the field in SG: Putting over the last 24 rounds.

Even an average putting performance this week would leave me feeling optimistic about Brennan’s hopes to contend, as he remains the most dangerous driver in this field too; Brennan ranks 1st in terms of both SG: OTT and SG: Ball Striking over the last 36 rounds. Michael Thorbjornsen proved debutants are not immune from finding success at this event, and Brennan is as hot as any player in this field currently with four top-15s over his last five starts.

Ricky Castillo

My Bet: +10000

It’s not an easy week to find value in viable contenders towards the bottom of the odds board in this limited 72-man field. Castillo is a player who found his way onto my card last though, as his number continued to slip to a point that was too long for me to pass up. The form has been very solid throughout the summer for Castillo, currently riding a streak of eight consecutive made cuts. That includes an impressive T3 finish in his most recent start at the Biltmore Championship, his best result since winning the Puerto Rico Open earlier this season.

Castillo is a young player who has shown flashes of elite potential throughout his bag. His issue has mainly been consistency, and getting all facets of his game from off-the-tee to on-the-green to click for four straight days. He has the tools to thrive on this set up though, as he ranks top-20 in Driving Distance, SG: OTT, and SG: Putting over the last 36 rounds.

Baycurrent Classic Bets: First Round Leader (0.5 Units)

Kurt Kitayama

My Bet: +3500

I am very high on Kitayama’s current form and course fit this week. His issue has been staying sharp for four consecutive days lately, but that is not a concern in the FRL market. Kitayama is one of the most consistent ball-strikers in this field and is a very skilled putter in his owned right, so he is fully capable of jumping out to a hot start in Japan.

Kevin Yu

My Bet: +4600

I have high hopes for Kevin Yu this fall, as he appears to be in full health again, has made improvements on the greens, and remains a consistent force with his ball striking. Yu is a proven birdie-maker, leaning on the strength of his driving distance and approach consistency to generate ample birdie-or-better opportunities. The Taiwanese star should feel a little more comfortable than most in the field this week, as he’ll be playing a bit closer to home.

Ricky Castillo

My Bet: +6200

Castillo is a high-upside outright bet for me, given the volatility in his game, but that makes him an even more appealing target in the FRL market. Castillo has played his best golf in easy scoring conditions, and is comfortable stacking birdies in bunches. If he continues to look as sharp as he did in Asheville with his driving and putting, he’s positioned well to go low early in Japan.

Sahith Theegala

My Bet: +7200

It was a forgettable end to the 2026 regular season for Theegala, who will be eager to turn the page with his first start since the BMW Championship. Despite this year falling short of his standards, his game is not far off, sustaining an active streak of 16 consecutive made cuts. Poor weekend performances have held him back, but Theegala is no stranger to stacking birdies and jumping out to a fast start. He finished T5 in his ZOZO Championship debut back in 2023, and will look to add another strong performance to his resume this week.

Baycurrent Classic Bets: Props (2.5 Units)

Full Tournament Matchup: Michael Thorbjornsen > Maverick McNealy

My Bet: +100

Typically when I bet matchups, I am actively targeting against players who I believe will underperform. That is not necessarily the case for me with Maverick McNealy, who remains consistently above-average throughout his bag; I just like Michael Thorbjornsen’s upside more.

Thorbjornsen has a clear edge in course history, finishing 3rd in his first look at Yokohama Country Club last year. McNealy, on the other hand, will be seeing it for the first time this week, as he continues to search for his first win since 2024. It would not surprise me if both played well this week, but I expect Thorbjornsen to finish stronger when the heat is on over the weekend.

Top-20 Finish: Ricky Castillo

My Bet: +250

Fresh off a T3 finish in his last start at the Biltmore Championship Asheville, Castillo jumps out to me as the “longshot” in this field with the highest upside in Japan. Castillo is a streaky player, and the last time he finished top-5 in a tournament, he followed it up with a win in his very next start. His strengths off the tee and on the greens should lead to a relatively high floor in this limited field of just 72 players.

Top-20 Finish: Nico Echavarria

My Bet: +300

The form has not been fantastic lately, but Nico comes to Japan battle-tested after a tightly contested Presidents Cup. When we come to events on the either side of the world, I need to know that a player is comfortable with the time zone change, and there’s no doubt about Echavarria there. He went toe-to-toe with Justin Thomas at this event two years ago and did not buckle under pressure. We saw that same resolve under pressure down the stretch at the Cognizant Classic earlier this season too, so I have confidence Echavarria can elevate his game over the weekend if he keeps himself in the mix.

Nico has looked volatile in 2026, with plenty of great results sprinkled in-between the mediocre ones. He ended the regular season well with T12 finishes at the Wyndham Championship and FedEx St Jude Championship. In addition to his 2024 win, Nico looks just as comfortable a year later, finishing 9th in his first visit to Yokohama Country Club.

Baycurrent Classic Bets: The Card

Final Card

That’ll do it for this week’s PGA TOUR golf bets. Best of luck this week with your own Baycurrent Classic bets, and see you in two weeks for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship preview.
