Logan Stankoven (Hurricanes vs. Blue Jackets) Goal Odds

After a brief cold stretch of play, Logan Stankoven’s stick has caught fire, scoring four Goals in his last four games. During his heater, Stankoven has been aggressive, generating 3.23 Shots on Goal per game.

Heading into Thursday night’s contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Stankoven will be able to continue to light the lamp by taking advantage of a back line that ranks dead last in Expected Goals Against From High Danger Shots. Especially with Jet Greaves incapable of matching Stankoven’s output while scrambling between the pipes, giving up 3.34 Goals Against per game while averaging a Save Percentage of .883.

In 5-on-4 Situations, Stankoven moves to the back line while Seth Jarvis accompanies him up front, allowing the Hurricanes forward to play off the puck to help exploit the Blue Jackets gaps in coverage. When a lane to the net opens up, Stankoven will be able to blitz through it and set himself up with a high quality one timer or capitalize on a rebound.

Lucas Raymond (Red Wings vs. Blackhawks) Goal Odds

In the past few weeks of play, the Detroit Red Wings have steadily regressed on offense, slipping down to 12th in Expected Goals For. Even with the offense struggling as a whole, Lucas Raymond has been able to keep the team afloat, generating 0.44 Expected Goals per game.

Fortunately for Raymond, he will be able to build on his momentum against the Chicago Blackhawks by attacking a back line that struggles to keep a body in front of the puck per their bottom ten mark in Expected Goals Against in 5-on-5 Play. With the Blackhawks struggling to wall off shots, Spencer Knight has been unable to keep a clean sheet, averaging 3.23 Goals Against per game.

When in the Power Play, Raymond has been the focal point of the Red Wings first unit, leading the group in Shots on Goal with an average of 1.17 per penalty. With the Blackhawks stretched out coverage, Raymond will be able to generate a higher volume of Shots on Goal in front of the crease, improving his probability of scoring.

Alex Tuch (Capitals vs. Predators) Goal Odds

Fresh off of a dominant performance, arguably no one in the league is hotter than Alex Tuch who has managed to score four Goals in his last two outings. Tuch’s consistency has been on full display since the start of the regular season, leading the Washington Capitals in Expected Goals with an average of 0.47 per game.

In a matchup against the Nashville Predators, Tuch will be able to extend his streak by picking apart a back line that resides in the bottom half of the board in Expected Goals Against in All Situations. Even with Juuse Saros playing at a high level, the Capitals versatility will force the Predators goalie to pull away from the net, widening Tuch’s shooting lanes on the outside.

While playing on the second half of a back-to-back normally indicates negative regression is looming large, Tuch’s heavy usage in the Capitals second Power Play unit will help keep his workload intact. To diversify your risk, place a separate wager on the Capitals forward to score +2 Goals as well.
