Later in the night, we pair Hertl with Trevor Zegras and Beckett Sennecke, two productive skaters who generate Expected Goals at a high rate. For more information, check out our NHL betting trends page for the latest daily game odds, insight, and data.

Tomas Hertl (Golden Knights vs. Sabres) Goal Odds

Even though he failed to score in his last start against Detroit, Tomas Hertl was still able to make an impact by dishing out an Assist. When Hertl is in attack mode, the Vegas Golden Knights center has been productive, leading the team in Expected Goals with an average of 0.41 per game.

Heading into Sunday’s contest against the Buffalo Sabres, Hertl will have a great opportunity to get back on the sheet while skating circles around a back line that ranks below league average in Expected Goals Against in All Situations. Especially with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen struggling to stand his ground while trying to wall off the Golden Knights assault, giving up 3.27 Goals Against per game.

In 5-on-4 Situations, Hertl has been the engine that drives the Golden Knights offense, leading the first unit in Shots on Goal with an average of 1.06 per penalty. With the Sabres struggling to smother opposing shot attempts, Hertl will be able to generate a higher volume of Shots on Goal, increasing his chances of scoring.

Trevor Zegras (Flyers vs. Flames) Goal Odds

Since the start of the regular season, Trevor Zegras has been able to mask Philadelphia’s lack of production on offense with his high level of play in the top line, averaging 0.32 Expected Goals while generating 2.11 Shots on Goal per game.

With the Calgary Flames on deck, Zegras will be able to build on his momentum by taking advantage of a back line that resides near the bottom of the board in Expected Goals Against in 5-on-5 Play. Even with Devin Cooley playing at a high level, Zegras’ aggression will force the Flames goalie to pull away from the net, widening his shooting lanes on the outside for the Flyers forward to exploit.

When in the Power Play, Zegras moves to the back line, allowing him to blitz through a lane with no fear of getting countered while the Flames are scrambled in coverage, isolating Cooley in front of the net. If Dustin Wolf gets the start instead of Cooley, add more to your position.

Beckett Sennecke (Ducks vs. Penguins) Goal Odds

While playing in the same line as Cutter Gauthier, Beckett Sennecke has been able to nearly match his teammate’s output this season, averaging 0.41 Expected Goals while generating over one Point per game.

In a favorable matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Sennecke will be able to find the back of the net by picking apart a back line that struggles to keep a defender near the vicinity of shot attempts per their bottom five mark in Expected Goals Against From High Danger Shots. Arturs Silovs has also harshly regressed since the calendar flipped to November, averaging 4.52 Goals Against per game while averaging a Save Percentage of .809.

Sennecke’s usage also ticks up when in the Power Play, averaging 0.19 Expected Goals per penalty. With Gauthier moving to the back line in 5-on-4 Situations while Sennecke stays up front, the Ducks forward is able to play off the puck on the opposite side, making it easier to plug the gaps in coverage and set himself up with a high quality one timer.
