2026 WTA Monterrey Open Bracket Analysis
Quarter 1
Ekaterina Alexandrova holds down the fort as the top seed in Monterrey, and although 2026 hasn’t been her best season, she has seen recent sparks of solid play which includes a win over Aryna Sabalenka. Which Alexandrova shows up is uncertain, while she will likely get Clara Tauson in the Round of 16 as her first opponent – not easy.
Below her the two names to circle include No. 6 seed Donna Vekic, also a ‘Jekyll-Hyde’ form this season, and Oleksandra Oliynykova. Both players are capable of runs with the draw in front of them, although Mayar Sherif is coming off the best form we’ve seen from her in years.
This quarter won’t be easy but a good starting point would be who comes through the Round of 16 at the very top, while the bottom will likely see the winner of Sherif vs. Oliynykova reach the quarterfinals although this part of the section will be dictated by Vekic’s form.
Quarter 2
Maja Chwalinska is the No. 3 seed and top name in Quarter 3, still looking to find her elite form she presented us with in Paris. While she hasn’t played bad, she hasn’t been winning and now has a wonderful ‘measuring stick’ draw in front of her to see exactly where she lies. On paper and based on her Roland Garros success, she should beat the names in front of her which includes Alycia Parks, Petra Marcinko, Shuai Zhang, Camila Osorio and Ann Li.
Maja will get the winner of Parks vs. Marcinko which won’t be easy and a possible immediate upset. Below her lies the other three, and although Ann Li would be the easy name to pick here, her first round match is against Osorio which is a toss up to pick. Also, Shuai Zhang has the ability to turn on the heaters with a hard court lower level event – so while Chwalinksa should advance on paper, this is another tough section to pick.
Quarter 3
Anastasia Potapova is the No. 4 seed and the standout name in Quarter 3, one of the easier picks to make for either tournament this week. That doesn’t mean it will hit, however, as Potapova has not been as consistent as she was a few months ago. While she has struggled to find consistent form, including a loss to Sloane Stephens, she is in a part of the draw where she should be able to win matches and build back confidence entering Flushing.
She will face the winner of Antonia Ruzic vs. Nikola Bartunkova, where the latter presents a bigger threat between the two. Above her lies Kimberly Birrell and Cristina Bucsa, so pending on the qualifiers placed here, Potapova is the easy name to target. While Birrell has shown flashes of solid play on the hard courts this season, Bartunkova should be the only realistic threat to taking Potapova’s spot as the Quarter 3 winner.
Quarter 4
Speaking of bounce back tournament for players to build confidence on, Elise Mertens is the No. 2 seed in Monterrey and the top name in Quarter 4. She too has struggled to find consistency following a strong few months earlier this season, but her draw is not as simple as Potapova’s. She will face the winner of a qualifer and Anhelina Kalinina, always a dangerous opponent.
Above Mertens’ section lies a recent hard court champion in Prague Lilli Tagger, Yuliia Starodubtseva, Dayana Yastremska and Janice Tjen. This is a quiet gauntlet that Mertens will need to navigate through, but should earn your conviction if she is able to handle Kalinina in her Round of 16 match. Otherwise, Tagger is a great dark horse look if she can carry over her success from Czechia.

2026 ATP Winston-Salem Open Bracket Analysis
Quarter 1
Daniil Medvedev gets the No. 1 seed and top spot in the draw, announced as a late wild card entry. His path is quite winnable, but the question for top players in major precursor events is whether or not they will withdraw before the final? So for Meddy to win the quarter seems likely, taking him to win the event as a whole might be worth passing on. Others receiving byes in Quarter 1 include No. 6 seed Mariano Navone, No. 9 seed Adrian Mannarino and No. 15 seed Fabian Marozsan.
All three could upset Medvedev, but Navone is the only one of those names who poses a legit threat. The winner of the first round match between Lorenzo Sonego and Vit Kopriva might be worth a dark horse look outside the seeded players with byes, while Miomir Kecmanovic has been quietly dangerous on hard courts this season.
Quarter 2
While Arthur Fery is the top name in Quarter 2 as the No. 4 seed, all eyes will be on No. 7 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas as the one to beat here. Sitty’s road to the quarters begins with immediate danger as he will receive the winner of a first round match between Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Jenson Brooksby. He will also likely have to face No. 11 seed Luca Van Assche in the third round.
While these are all players that have a very good chance of taking Stefanos out, he should be the favorite in those hypothetical matches. Above his section lies Fery, who will probably face a difficult challenge out of the gates as well in Dino Prizmic. Tomas Machac is also the No. 14 seed and probably the best dark horse to consider if his health is in check.
Quarter 3
Ignacio Buse gets the No. 3 seed in Winston-Salem, but his hard court game has yet to translate over from his clay court game. He will face the winner of Adam Walton and Jesper De Jong in his first match with No. 16 seed Daniel Altmaier, Yibing Wu and Francisco Comesana above him. It will be tough to say the least.
A pair of Argentinians get the first round byes above Buse, No. 8 seed Juan Manuel Cerundolo and No. 10 seed Sebastian Baez. This section is a complete toss up with solid contenders playing first round matches in Valentin Royer, Marcos Giron, Roman Safiullin and defending champion Marton Fucsovics. While this is the most difficult section of the draw to predict, the winner of Walton vs. De Jong might be a great look given the path on paper.
Quarter 4
Quarter 4 sees another clay court merchant occupy the top seeded spot in Luciano Darderi, getting the No. 2 seed. While Darderi’s success in 2026 is mainly on clay, he has shown vast signs of improvement on the hard court surface. With that said, it hasn’t been enough to equate it with his skill on clay yet, but it is improving. His draw isn’t easy, with No. 13 seed Botic Van De Zandschulp playing solid tennis lately and a huge threat to the Italian.
Above them lies No. 5 seed Raphael Collignon and No. 12 Quentin Halys, both playing good tennis lately while the elephant in the room is Kamil Majchrzak. While he has regressed over the last few 1000 level events, his success this season comes in lower level events where he is a difficult out. He will be the name to circle along with Rinky Hijikata, who has shown great form in recent weeks.
Tournament Pick: Botic Van De Zandschulp +1600
Sleeper Pick: Mariano Navone +3500
