Best Bet: U50.5 (-110) at DraftKings

Best Bet: WIS +3 (-118)

Score Prediction: USC 26, Wisconsin 24

The Pick: USC 26, Wisconsin 24

We’ll take the Under based on Wisconsin’s home trends against Big Ten schools, while the Badgers to cover is on the table with USC’s 2026 stats.

Game Betting Analysis

The stand out trend for Wisconsin, particularly at home, is the Under – more so when it’s a conference home games. The Badgers have hit the Under in nine straight home games when facing a conference foe. However, that’s about the only Under data piece that is supported in this game. It is grand, though, and the elephant in the room when betting Wisconsin home games in the Big Ten. The ATS does have some merit to consider, though, as USC limps in with a 2-5 ATS mark on the season. A much more finite piece of data has shown the team ranked 16th in the AP Poll has now failed to cover the spread in nine straight games. Nine seems to be the lucky number here. Either market is fine but we’ll side with the Under.

Deciding Factor: Each Team’s Offensive Efficiency Identity vs. Each Team’s Defensive Weakness

Wisconsin’s offense has been inconsistent through the air behind transfer Colton Joseph (81-of-143, 56.6%, 1,132 yards, 10 TD, 5 INT), but the ground game has quietly been the Badgers’ most reliable weapon, and it’s attacking USC at its softest spot. Darrion Dupree (43 carries, 195 yards, 4.5 YPC, 2 TD) and Abu Sama III (28 carries, 190 yards, 6.8 YPC, 1 TD) give Wisconsin a two-headed backfield averaging 4.7 yards per carry as a team, while Joseph himself adds a real rushing dimension (51 carries, 262 yards, 5.1 YPC, 3 TD). That run-first identity lines up against a USC defense that 247Sports’ advanced-stats review flagged as genuinely vulnerable on the ground: the Trojans are allowing 4.7 yards per carry (ranked 56th nationally, actually worse than last year’s 4.4), have surrendered conversions on 12 of 13 “power” runs (two yards or less needed) over their last two games, and were gashed to a 58% rush success rate by Rutgers. PFF also charged USC with a season-high 14 missed tackles in that Rutgers game, and the Trojans have allowed touchdowns on 7 of their last 8 red-zone trips allowed — exactly the kind of bend-and-eventually-break profile a physical, clock-chewing rushing attack is built to exploit. Add in that this is USC’s first trip to Camp Randall Stadium since 1965, under the lights, against a crowd that hasn’t seen the Trojans in over 60 years, and the environment favors a team that wants to keep the ball on the ground and shorten the game.

USC, meanwhile, is riding one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Jayden Maiava — No. 2 nationally in passing yards (2,045, 292.1 per game), 67.9% completions, 18 TD to just 3 INT, and a 168.4 efficiency rating that’s powered a Big Ten-best offense in third-down conversion rate (.512) and completion percentage. But that air attack has only been truly tested once by a defense like Wisconsin’s, which ranks a strong 10th nationally in EPA allowed per pass attempt and 19th in pass success rate allowed — meaning if the Badgers’ front can bottle up USC’s 152.3 rushing yards per game (a unit that’s lost starting center Kilian O’Connor for the season and is already down OL Elijah Paige, with a true freshman now protecting the edge), they can force Maiava into more passing downs than USC wants, against a secondary built to make him earn every yard through the air rather than around it. Wisconsin is also already banged up defensively, with cornerback Javan Robinson questionable and the DB room “thin” behind him, so this is a two-way bet: if Dupree, Sama and Joseph keep gashing USC’s suspect run defense and control the clock in Madison, Wisconsin has a real path to springing the home upset — but if Robinson can’t go and Maiava turns this into the shootout his numbers suggest he’s capable of, USC’s offense is explosive enough to pull away regardless of who’s carrying the ball for the Badgers.
