2026 French Open Favorites: Top Contenders, Odds, Predictions & Best Bets

Roland Garros is almost here as the 2026 French Open is set to begin on Sunday, May 24 and without one of the stars for the men in Carlos Alcaraz who is out with an injury. It seems like Jannik Sinner, is therefore, the only favorite and contender with heavy odds in minus-territory. However, there are a handful of players considered contenders scattered across the brackets that have betting data worth reviewing.

For the women, it feels much more wide open with a double-digit head count of possible champions. However, we have narrowed the impressive WTA field down to a handful of contenders you should review before taking tickets on. Let’s go through the field of French Open contenders with analysis and odds to consider, along with best bets recommendations.

2026 French Open Men’s Contenders

With Alcaraz out, there are only three contenders to consider for the men’s French Open field.

Jannik Sinner (-260)

2026 Betting Stats

  • Outright: 35-2
  • ATS: 17-16-3
  • Total: 16-18-2

With Alcaraz out, Sinner becomes an expensive favorite after winning yet another 1000 level event in Rome this past week. He seems very much unstoppable at the moment, and will likely have to beat himself in order to miss out on winning the 2026 Roland Garros event. Taking Sinner depends on how comfortable you are with take an expensive favorite against the field of 100-plus players.

Alexander Zverev (+700)

2026 Betting Stats

  • Outright: 28-9
  • ATS: 21-12-4
  • Total: 18-18-1

Taking Zverev at +700 to win Roland Garros is a hard sell, for many reasons but lets start with his current form. Although he is mainly consistent in events entered, he has a few recent questionable losses to Italians Flavio Cobolli and Luciano Darderi. However, his other three recent tournament exits have come at the hands of (another Italian) Sinner – so even if he can shake off the recent defeats he will still likely hit his ceiling in Paris with a finals loss to… you guessed it, Sinner.

Novak Djokovic (+1100)

2026 Betting Stats

  • Outright: 7-3
  • ATS: 4-4-1
  • Total: 5-4

It’s hard to consider Novak Djokovic a ‘contender’ for any major event right now, with only 10 matches under his belt as we enter mid-May and a recent loss to Dino Prizmic. Despite that, his four-digit odds paired with pedigree makes him a solid futures ticket to hold on to. As one of the GOATs of tennis, he can absolutely win any major entered in (as did Tiger Woods at the Masters). Buyer beware, however, as he is unlikely to win Paris with the form of Sinner along with stamina concerns for a deep run in best-of-five set matches.

2026 French Open Women’s Contenders

The women’s field has much more adversity in picking a winner, as we have narrowed our top contenders to five suitable players.

Aryna Sabalenka (+240)

2026 Betting Stats

  • Outright: 27-3
  • ATS: 11-16-3
  • Total: 14-16

Despite the number one ranking in the world, Aryna Sabalenka is not playing like it since clay court season started. She has seen concerning exits in both Madrid and Rome, places she usually thrives in against Hailey Baptiste and Sorana Cirstea. Despite the solid season from both ladies thus far, those are matches the world No. 1 shouldn’t lose. Despite the clay court mess, Sabby is (barely) hanging on to the favorite position and still presents a solid look in the futures market with odds growing.

Iga Swiatek (+275)

2026 Betting Stats

  • Outright: 18-9
  • ATS: 12-11-3
  • Total: 11-13-2

It seemed like old-Iga was back in Rome, that was until Elina Svitolina arrived. Swiatek has not been in the best form since winning Wimbledon, but what she displayed in Rome was the closest to serial-winning Iga we’ve seen in quite some time. Time will tell if her loss is still a thing to concern yourself with, or if Svitolina was just a buzzsaw in Rome. Either way, Iga’s odds are still a bit weak to test with what we’ve seen from her 2026 resume. However, she is already a Hall of Fame player due to her French Open resume so getting her at +275 might be a steal should she suddenly turn into the clay court killer we know she is.

Coco Gauff (+700)

2026 Betting Stats

  • Outright: 24-9
  • ATS: 15-13-4
  • Total: 18-14

Coco Gauff presents great value to consider, although her matches are very nerve wrecking for bettors. If you can handle the stress, buckle up and take a futures ticket on Gauff as she is one of the more consistent players on clay courts. She won here a year ago, and is coming off great showings this clay court season although she’s not our favorite contender to take with too many close matches for our taste. Make no mistake, though, she is a top contender and a fine play to consider taking.

Mirra Andreeva (+600)

2026 Betting Stats

  • Outright: 29-9
  • ATS: 19-19
  • Total: 25-13

Mirra Andreeva is another player entering Roland Garros with an insanely successful clay court season, including a title in Linz. She also reached the finals in Madrid while running through Rome before falling at the hands of Gauff. The odds have shortened for Andreeva so it seems taking a ticket on her is better to do early rather than late. Don’t be surprised if she falls under 5/1 soon, as likely popular public bet as well.

Elena Rybakina (+700)

2026 Betting Stats

  • Outright: 30-7
  • ATS: 18-17
  • Total: 16-19

Our final women’s contender at the 2026 French Open is Elena Rybakina, presenting the best value and form across the board for either men’s or women’s draw. Playing like the world No. 1 currently, she has odds behind four other players and our only guess is because of the clay court surface. The myth that clay is unplayable for Rybakina must be dismissed, a multi-champion on the surface at various events (Rome, Stuttgart, Strasbourg). Much like Gauff, Rybakina’s losses are typically to herself with mental lapses here and there. They’ve gotten better (results showing) and with the current asking price is the best bet to consider, but won’t be for long as she will likely fall under 5/1 in due time.
