NBA Mention Markets: Data & Top Trades For Pistons vs. Cavaliers

Mention markets have exploded in volume on prediction market platforms in the past year, and now, with almost a whole season’s worth of historical data, you can find edges in certain pre-game markets on what the announcers will say during specific games.

If you are new to mention markets, feel free to check out Kalshi, which offers tons of markets on various sports.

Top Trade – What Are The Announcers Saying At Cavs Home Games?

If you don’t see the term that I am looking at, you might want to take another look. It has an edge of over 60% compared to the odds currently offered on Kalshi. Let me explain.

Trade YES on “Rocket” at 34 cents or +194

The term “Rocket” has been mentioned in EVERY Cavaliers home game during the 2026 postseason, and it’s still priced at only 33 cents, which again is around +194 in traditional odds. The Rockets play their home games at Rocket Arena. Typically, most announcers mention where the game is being played, but the data also supports this.

In the last 6 games, the term has been mentioned 1, 6, 1, 13, 3, and 7 times, averaging almost 5 mentions per game. Between this and the 100% hit rate, I am more than willing to trade the term at 34 cents.

Other Key Data Points

Some other data points that have an effect on mentions are injuries, overtime games, and triple-doubles:

  • The Cavaliers-Pistons last matchup went into overtime
  • Cade Cunningham last scored a triple-double on May 9th
  • Kevin Huerter, Caris LeVert, and Duncan Robinson are all day-to-day

How Do I Trade On NBA Mentions?

Mention markets are available on Kalshi, where users can trade YES or NO on whether specific words or phrases will be said during a live broadcast. Traders can buy shares based on announcer tendencies, player storylines, injuries, milestones, and game flow.

The goal is to find terms that are being mentioned more often than the market odds imply. Using historical data from tools can help identify recurring broadcast trends and potential value before tip-off or live during the game.

Key Mention Market Resolution Rules

Mention markets on Kalshi are graded based on whether announcers say a specific word or phrase during a live broadcast. Only commentary from the official game broadcast counts, including the play-by-play announcer and color commentators.

Markets are tracked from tip-off until the game officially ends, including overtime. Kalshi primarily uses the game broadcast video to determine the outcome, with official transcripts used if additional verification is needed.

Plural or possessive versions of a word usually count, while unrelated variations do not. Promotional segments during the broadcast may count toward the market, but standard advertisements and unrelated archived footage do not.

If a game is canceled or cannot be officially graded, the market may resolve as “Event does not qualify.” Postponed games typically remain active if they are rescheduled within the timeframe outlined in Kalshi’s rules.
