New Sports Betting Sites

The newest sports betting site in the U.S. is bet365, which went live in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 8, 2026, less than two weeks after launching its sportsbook and online casino in West Virginia on Aug. 27, 2026. • bet365 Sportsbook in Washington, D.C.: The sportsbook launched on Sept. 8, 2026, alongside a partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment, owner of the Capitals, Wizards, and Mystics. Only the sportsbook is live in D.C., not the online casino.
• bet365 Sportsbook in West Virginia: The operator launched both its sportsbook and online casino on Aug. 27, 2026, after the West Virginia Lottery approved its full license on July 29.
• Bally Bet in Rhode Island: The Rhode Island Lottery picked Bally’s in May 2026 as the state’s second online sportsbook. It can launch no earlier than Nov. 26, 2026, when IGT’s exclusive contract expires.
• Circa Sports in Arizona: The Arizona Department of Gaming licensed Circa Sports, partnered with the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe, effective July 27, 2026. No launch date has been announced.
• theScore Bet replaced ESPN BET: On Dec. 1, 2025, PENN Entertainment moved ESPN BET customers to theScore Bet in the states where ESPN BET operated.

Legal Sports Betting in the U.S.

Legal sports betting is regulated state by state: each state, or a tribal authority, licenses sportsbooks and sets its own rules. Operators run a sportsbook brand you use through its website, app or, in some states, a retail counter. Until 2018, a federal law called PASPA barred most states from offering single-game sports betting. The Supreme Court struck it down in Murphy v.
