Jalen Smith exited the Bulls’ Wednesday game in the first quarter with a left hand injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest. He hopes to play Sunday against Philadelphia, according to Hoops Rumors’ Nov. 5 report.

Nic Claxton could also make his Bulls debut Sunday as he nears the end of his recovery from a left hamstring strain.

Smith optimistic after left hand injury

Smith had already been dealing with a finger sprain on the same hand before Wednesday’s exit. The 26-year-old said he does not believe the injury is significant.

His optimism offers a possible return target, but his availability against Philadelphia is not confirmed.

Claxton assigned to G League during recovery

Chicago assigned Claxton and Dailyn Swain to the Windy City Bulls on Thursday. Claxton’s possible debut gives Chicago another availability development to monitor ahead of the Philadelphia game.

Swain will remain with Windy City for at least a few days to play in G League games Friday and Saturday. He described the assignment as a chance to develop while outside Chicago’s NBA rotation.

“It’s an opportunity to get live reps. Obviously being out of the rotation up here (in the NBA), so I feel like it’s an opportunity to develop, work on the things, so that’s how I look at it,” Swain said.
