Ever since Dan Campbell came onto the scene, the Detroit Lions have come roaring back to relevancy. Not only have they managed to win the NFC North, but they have also made an appearance in the NFC Conference Championship, a feat that seemed almost too good to be true after years of disappointment and pain.
Unfortunately for the Lions faithful, they fell hard back down to reality last season with injuries plaguing both sides of the ball, keeping them out of the playoffs in the process. A stunning result when factoring in how much hype surrounded them at the beginning of the year, a contender who rivaled the top of the oddsboard for the Super Bowl.
Heading into 2026-27, the Lions are expected to bounce back in a major way with health back on their side while taking advantage of a very favorable schedule. Question marks surrounding their secondary aside, the Lions are loaded with talent at most key positions, setting themselves up for a successful season, one that may be capped off with another appearance in the conference finals.
2026 Detroit Lions Super Bowl Odds
After addressing their offensive line in the NFL Draft, Jared Goff has the protection he needs to help reduce the amount of Havoc in his throws, keeping the Lions offense competitive enough to help mask their defense. With DVOA listing their chances of winning the Super Bowl at 6.1%, the Lions are worth a wager at +1600 or higher, making them a valuable piece to the portfolio that can be hedged out deep in the playoffs when they face off against other top contenders.

Same philosophy as before, the Lions are poised to make another deep run in the playoffs due to their favorable schedule, potentially setting themselves up with a bye in the first round if they can outpace the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams. Should the Lions secure a bye, then our NFC Championship ticket becomes even more valuable, eliminating a game to help offset how much we may need to hedge depending on who they match up with in the later rounds.

With the Chicago Bears expected to take a step back while weaving through a brutal schedule, the Lions have a great opportunity to reclaim their title. Especially with the Minnesota Vikings dealing with question marks at quarterback while the Green Bay Packers need to address glaring holes at multiple key positions. Bet the Lions to win the division now before they steadily trickle down as the season progresses.

Even though I am bullish on the Lions chances of bouncing back with health back on their side, I am aligned with oddsmakers on their win total, projecting the Lions just a tad over 10.5. Their secondary may also force them to play in highly volatile contests if their front seven struggles to get to the quarterback, bringing in far too much variance for my liking. Stick with their playoff/division/championship futures and pass on their current win total.

With the NFC West cannibalizing themselves, the Lions chances of pulling away from a crowded conference will increase, drastically improving their probability of making the playoffs via wildcard or by a division title. The NFC East and NFC South are also projected to send just one team from each division to the playoffs, creating plenty of paths for the Lions to make their return. The odds are north of -200 though, so stick to other futures markets instead.

Especially if his defense can give them the production they need to be a well rounded contender to help secure enough wins, shining the spotlight brighter on him throughout the full course of the season.
